I really hate the Zero Suit. I often wish Zero Mission had never actually been a thing because the moment people realized they had an excuse to make Samus run around in a skin-tight cat suit during a mission they took every chance they could to make it happen. Samus wore revealing outfits before but they existed as post-game images of her outside a mission where it was actually a reasonable thing for her to wear.
These boots just further embitter me towards the Zero Suit. They could have gone with literally any other more practical style of footwear, but no, it had to be stiletto heels. The design serves no purpose aside from greater sex appeal, and that's the issue. It's just one more case of female design worrying about being eye-candy first, and the letting the fans contrive silly excuses for it to exist.
I'm sure it's only a matter of time before the Zero Suit has a cleavage window or exposed mid-drift.

Samus was always intriguing in that after a long and arduous battle where she'd won the day via strength, skill, strategy, technology, speed, accuracy, intelligence, and any other virtues she has, she'd be like, "Oh, by the way, I'm sexy as all hell. Didn't know? Yeah, it didn't matter, because I had a job to do."

Samus Aran is now and always WAS a rarity- nay, a unique variant. She's a super hero who also happens to be a beautiful woman. Most of the time you're walking down the street when some creator throws a oversexualized supermodel at you, and after a two hour cutscene or 12 page image gallery you find out that she also has some battle abilities.

I don't mind when an artist decides to show us the woman under the suit - BUT STILL WEARING ANOTHER SUIT, INTERNET. But I do mind when it's obvious that whoever was at the art desk was... I can't come up with an art double entendre. Something about an easel? I don't know. I don't want horny dudes drawing while horny, otherwise characters get stupid and slutty for no reason.

COULD Samus Aran ever wear those ridiculous Combat Jump Heels? Yeah, sure. Provided she was stuck somewhere without her power suit and then KILLED those ridiculous heels' original owner, some alien race with ridiculous stiletto-like feet, and took them for herself in order to complete a mission. Would she keep them afterward and add them to her wardrobe? Fuck no. She usually even throws away all of the missiles and beam upgrades that I lovingly give her. Women, am I right, bros?

Some dude was at the drawing board late one night when he'd really rather be cleaning his brush (There's the double entendre!) and he drew some sexyheels on Samus. Then his boss saw them, and rather than lose his job after admitting he was gently applying a small fetish to the subject while getting PAID to do so, at overtime rates, mind you, he just made up some in-game use and bam, now the character will be permanently cheapened because of it.

There's an argument raging that this doesn't change the character, because there's other characters just like this already. Yeah, it DOES change the character. Because Samus WASN'T the heeled-super sexy sex avenger using sexiness to save the sexually charged universe. She was a soldier in a armored combat suit who fought a one human war against amoral genetic monsters being bred to dominate the galaxy by an illegal pirate force led by a sentient biological computer. Then, when that job was done, we could acknowledge that she was also an attractive female. It was something different, and now it may be endangered.

Gotta sex her up somehow. People were used to the zero suit by now. They were starting to chafe.

"Okay we've got this badass space bounty hunter! She wears this heavy armor with a gun for her right hand!"

"Hmmm... that's good, I guess... But how about a skin-tight catsuit? Ooh! Maybe give her a whip, and some high heels too!"

Gotta ***** about her design somehow. Who cares if the design actually looks good. If it is in any way shape or form deviated from her original design or the one I've had in my head for 20 years gotta ***** about it somehow.

Seriously the fact that she is wearing a cat suit and ROCKET POWERED HEELS! does not change the fact that Samus will always be a bad ass space bounty hunter. List of other female heroes that fight in catsuits and high heels occasionally. Catwoman, Black Cat, and Bayonetta. Yet I see absolutely no one complain about them.

They certainly didn't care if it looked good. Because it doesn't.
But yeah, you're right. It doesn't matter if her tits and ass are the main focus of her design. That's why Ripley was naked for the entire run of Aliens!

And clearly you weren't around when the Haley Barry catwoman was released. Or when the new 52 Catwoman came out. Or Bayonetta, when her everything. Probably Black Cat too, but no one really cares much about her in general, so you might have me on that one. I did see plenty of people take issue with Miranda prancing around in basically the same outfit in Mass Effect 2, though.

I don't know what you are seeing. It looks just fine. Its not like they picked clashing colors, or colors that she hasn't previously worn with that suit color. Metroid Fusion? Besides her zero suit design from the previous game had heels so the point is non existent anyway.

Dude she's always been a Barbie doll. Her game winning and game over screens in the very beginning featured her as busty and in a two piece. She was sexified way before the zero suit or this design arrived.

Did people ***** about Bayonetta or something when she first came out? Cause she was a such a bad ass that if they did any bitching has no ground to stand on with her.

Amazing piece that resumes everyting, there is nothing wrong with her being beautifull or sexy, the point is that nintendo is changing 20 years of kicking butt aliens, wich is her work doing it in her combat/work suit, like any other soldier, police officer, firefighter, bomb squad specialist, and then going to home or ship to relax in more comfortable light clothes; to making her defining trait not her actions, not her work, but her tits, ass and shunned into a sexy almost bodypainted suit wich would for mobility inside the suit, but is also being used for eyecandy and fanservice; now they add high heels emphasizing more that "she is a woman", like women could be respected athletes, police officers, militars or in this case a bounty hunter without having gigantic boobs,ass and sexy heels. She wasn't sexualized in her apparitions in previous games eves if she was a sexy girl, because it wasn't something that trully interfered with her character, once she got the work done she would take off her uniform/armor and go relax like any other people would do, it would't have sense for her to go to sleep, relax, bath or realize some other activities with the armor on, but going to a fight and doing her job without her extra protection and weating shoes that only can cause physical pain and injuries is just beyond stupid.

To the last post, those are basically Raiden feet, he is a cyborg, he is not wearing it under his feet to hinder his movements and also look more like some kind of beast paws than heels.
