I don't understand this. I really don't. Why when someone says something that isn't completely outside the realms of possibility on the internet and you respond to them with something (taking it seriously,mind you.) sometimes they'll say "i was being sarcastic"


I might just be getting way too worked up about this but it's not like were in person where you can add a extend a letter or make your voice sound different to indicate you being sarcastic.

Could it be that if they reply simply "I was being sarcastic" as you stated they are infact not being as hostile as you read it to be? just a thought.

The above is a perfect example since you probably read it as being mild and mannered yes?

It sure is difficult to detect sarcasm on the internet, yeah. It's not like people have been able to detect sarcasm in written communication for years or anything. God, you must be a genius or something.

Also, it can be difficult to see if someone is being sarcastic on the internet.

Attacking people who use sarcasm on the Internet? OH MY GOD!!1! I have been searching for this thread for like FOREVER!!1! We can campaign! Maybe spread out to other threads to attack Sarcasmists SITEWIDE!!1!

So...yeah how about we use this method? ;)
