Korean site Asahi is reporting that Konami has canceled development of docu-game Six Days In Fallujah.

"After seeing the reaction to the videogame in the United States and hearing opinions sent through phone calls and e-mail, we decided several days ago not to sell it," a public relations official of Konami reportedly told Asahi. "We had intended to convey the reality of the battles to players so that they could feel what it was like to be there."

The game, which aims to offer a you-are-there perspective on the Gulf War II's bloody Battle of Fallujah, garnered controversy and condemnation from some peace activists and veteran's groups upon its announcement earlier this month. Although the Iraq War veterans we spoke with seemed okay with the title coming out. now if this new is true voice your anger here or order a petition

If the people who were actually at war are okay with it why should we feel any different? besides, what war game doesnt have a little bit 'o controversy behind it? It wouldn't be realistic otherwise.

Thats a shame. I was actually interested in this game. If the people who were in the war are ok with it then why should we say no to it coming out.

I'd love to help save it, but if Konami have decided to cancel it, then there's not much that can be done.

Besides, of all people, what the hell could we do to help?

"Oh it's fine that your making World War 2 games. Because I weren't in those, and none of my friends were either.

Wait, your making a game about a war one of my friends/lovers/family members was/is in?! BLASPHEMY!"

These people are kicking up a fuss because it's happeneing to them. The cotton wrapped, soft, yellow belly'd, whiny little cowards of people sat behind computer desks and in their arm chairs relaxing at home.

As someone that's joining the forces in June. I know exactly what I'm getting myself into, and if I didn't like it, then I wouldn't have signed up for the fucking job! GAH!

Join a military, expect to be in a war or in some kind of conflict. That's what your friends/daughters/sons/nephews/nieces/parents/relatives understood when they signed up. So what gives you the right to ***** on their behalf?

Guh...I'm done...Rant over.

If theyd had the balls to release it then it would sell. Controversy sells. I personally think its an over reaction.

Why can I shoot vietnamese/Japanese/Germans/Italians/etc but not Iraqis?

Hell, in CoD4 I shot Iraqis in everything but name. War involves killing. Either ban FPS when it involves killing humans, or allow it all.

People. Konami was the publisher. Atomic is the developer.

If Atomic cant find a new publisher they will have to cancel. The project is delayed till they find a new publisher for the game.

If they do find one this is.

I agree, especially if they like the idea(I'm not sure if they do), then it is fairly rude to tell someones story and then just decide to yank it off the shelves. If the soldiers want their stories told, and it is done in a tasteful and well done manner, there is no reason to not sell the game.

Isn't it hilarious how they were touting gritty realism with this game and then it turns out to be Gears of War Middle East Edition?
I don't think it's hilarious. I think it's pretty disgusting how Iraq get invaded, the Iraqis' life turned into hell, and the houses and hard work of honest Iraqis are turned into rubbles for the enjoyment of some western kid (yes, am a big hypocrite because I would have enjoyed the game as well but I am in a bad mood right now, and it's mainly a race oriented problem pissing me off).

This is not WW2 where the US, and British were liberating conquered territories from the Nazis, or the Russians fighting for their homeland against a better equipped army. This is a one-side war, a one-side fucking war that should have been shown as it is really through the eyes of soldiers that died, or even lived through these "6 days". A honest documentary about these soldiers doing their job, and not playing fucking rambo.

They're looking for a new publisher, and with all the attention this game is getting, they'll find one.
