I'm using Google Chrome and for some reason, saving .gif images does one of two things;
1) Saves a still-shot of the image. Or
2) Saves it as a 'page', and opens up Internet Explorer (for some reason?) when opened.

I'm not big on .gif collecting but when I do, I'd rather be rid of this inconvenience. If anyone knows why, please reply.

Try Firefox. I right click the image and click 'save image as' and it saves it as a GIF

I'm not sure why it would happen but if it helps I use Ifranview to view basically all the images that I have and the file I get when I save a gif is then called "Ifranview GIF file" so that may help.

Sounds like an unnecessary extra step.

I just want to see Korra give her exaggerated "I'm watching you" some more :(

The default Windows picture viewing thingie in Vista/7 (Windows Photo Viewer) doesn't play the .gifs but shows them as stills. You should open them with something else.

Like this. In fact, I think by default, Windows opens .gifs in IE because that can play them.

I've set mine to open them with Chrome for three reasons: 1. Fuck IE. 2. See 1. 3. Because I can't be bothered - I don't spend enough time in Windows with gifs and such to actually need anything more specialised. When I'm on Windows it's either to play a game that I don't want or can't play under Linux, or...well, that's pretty much it actually. I'm playing Skyrim right now, for example.

Save them by right clicking and "Save Image As...". Drag the saved file back into Chrome afterward and see if it displays properly.

Well, assuming you have some software that does it for you, you can right-click on a .gif, go to properties and in the information there it would say Type of file: GIF File (.gif) and below that Opens with: Internet Explorer right there is a button labelled "Change..." - click it and choose the application you want use instead of IE.

As for proper software, IrfanView [http://www.irfanview.com/] seems popular. I never used it myself but friends of mine have and they were happy. Alternatively, apparently somebody ported the photo viewer from XP to 7, so that should work - get the link off this thread [http://www.sevenforums.com/music-pictures-video/39095-animated-gifs-windows-photo-viewer.html].

I hope that helps.
