Ok I think I am in a situation where I have no idea what to do...or well. That is a lie I know what I could do I am just not sure what I should do.

I am just finishing uni and am looking for work for when it is all in and done, yay fun times. In brakes between doing the last bits of uni work I had been looking up the some job websites, I applied to one that looked good an IT job two positions looking for those who know there stuff and we got a training course for those who don't. I got phone call this morning asking if I wanted an online interview tomorrow. I said sure and they sent me some info about the position.

An hour ago I decided to look up online interview because I thought that was a bit odd. Google did not give me anything useful so I then googled company title that was found on the top of the e-mail before I had finished typing "career job" google finished it for me with the words UK SCAM. Most links were to forums some posts new (from couple of months ago) some older (2009), all basically saying the same thing they got a call- online interview next day, that gets straight to the chase do you want this give us £79, nuts they got my money. That is in a nut shell what they said.

When they called me this morning they did not make it sound like a had much of a chance but it there was a possibility.

Now they are going to call me tomorrow for this "interview". Now I know what I could do. But I am not really sure what I should do. Do I play it straight until money is asked of me? Do I just not both and turn by phone off? Or do I do something elce?
Any thoughts?

And heads up if anyone cames across these guys, the company is career jobs uk, I could there add on total jobs who was passing on an add from direct junction.

I would inform the police the moment they ask for money. No company ever charges you money for a job interview.

Go into it, but ask a LOT of questions about why they need the money. An obnoxious amount of questions. Some intelligent ones that make sense, but then others that are just incredibly pointless, though relevant.

Maybe keep a log of/record the conversation and then if they ask for money report it to the police and you have evidence against them.

It applies to damn near every career, but the first thing they teach you about being an actor is that if an agent/manager/casting director asks you for money upfront, it IS a scam.

I would, as you say, play it straight until money is asked of you. If they do ask for money, I would simply say "I don't think this is right for me. Thank you for your time."

It isn't a job interview, their scam is in selling training. It looks like they just try to sign you up for online classes that they can charge you thousands of dollars for. Then they will find you a job, after they have your money of course. I think I would skip it unless you have money to throw around. And really if you do have money to throw around, and you want training in something, I would research training and find someone reputable in it.
