Scariest Game Level Ever?

Shalebridge Cradle from Thief 3 makes Silent Hill or that Half-Life 2 level look like Disney cartoons in comparison.

when i was a kid i was scared shitless by a game called "Akuji the heartless" .. and every level

I always thought the nightmare scenes in max payne with the baby crying and blood trail real creepy.

Me too...you don't expect a 'scary' level in that type of game but the whole idea and execution behind that level in Max Payne was brilliant, just like the game.

It was suppose to be a nightmarish experience and it certainly was.

i really need to necro this thread because i just thought about shalebridge cradle from thief 3. i got to say, that game is one of only 2 games that have ever really physically induced dread and actual FEAR for me. if you havent played shalebridge, you havent been scared by a game.

also, i feel like stealth games are the only games that really can do fear. every other type has the player being empowered, lacking the fear and dread element.
