I used to work at a mill that worked with beans, corn, wheat, etc. The job was throw 50 lbs. bags of seed onto a machine that sliced the bag and drained the seed onto a belt. The machine has a vertical spinning blade, teeth pointing toward the opening that the crew was at. My buddy threw a bag on and the blade came off the rail, spinning towards our faces. Lucky it missed... still scary as hell.

It wasn't exactly scary, but it startled me alright. I was using the metalworking lathe in automotive, when a piece of hot metal flew off my project and hit me in the lip.

I got lost out on a night-time hike in the middle of the bush at a school camp when I was 12. It took them 2 and a half hours to find me. Needless to say I had more or less soiled my pants by that point.

This is more funny than scary. Last week I woke up from a deep sleep in the middle of the night and saw what I can only describe as dancing onion children in my curtains. I was aware that this was obviously a hallucination. I didn't want it to end so I put off blinking for as long as possible. It was really fun to watch :D

I met this thing once or twice while holidaying. Good grief, I was scared. I thought I'd discovered a new species of cave demon.

I never knew that was a thing! Man, I always remembered the night I woke up after a scary dream and couldn't move a muscle, it scared the crap out of me.

But really, I live in Australia, where things that can kill you lurk in your shoes, so my list of scary incidents is as long as your arm.

UPDATE: Just as I opened the picture of the coconut crab up there, my puppy started licking my foot. I think I need a change of underwear.

I would look up a picture of a huntsman spider, but I really don't want to look at them. But yeah. Waking up with one of those on the ceiling. HOLIDAYS ARE MEANT TO BE PEACEFUL. FUCK YOU, AUSTRALIA.

.. I remember having an incredibly bad cough, apparently whooping cough but I'm not completely sure, when I was about.. 5, 6 years old.
I starting coughing in the middle of the night and couldn't breathe, so I started crying, choking and banging on the walls. That was pretty fucking terrifying.

.. I'm sure there's more, but those two spring to mind first.

One of these fuckers crawled up onto my desk a few weeks ago. I think I jumped clear across the room when I saw it.

Lots of insects and arachnoids. They are nasty. I would say the time I was riding a rollercoaster and the safety harness cracked in the middle of the ride. In Sweden. I don't trust the Swedes anymore.

...Did you eat it? I mean, uh, nasty...yeah...

For me it was when I was pulled away from the shore by a riptide in Ocean City. It sucked my shorts off. That or when I went to Ripleys Haunted Adventure at Myrtle Beach. That was the best haunted house I've ever been in.

It was a big one, but I can't remember the name, it was about 10 years ago.

Same here. I've never been so scared in my enitre life. The hugest releif is being able to finally open your eyes and getting rid of the feeling of being trapped in your body.

I was in France and I went around a corner on a hill, and a load of Ibex were right in front of me. Luckily they just walked right past but they were so close, I could've touched them.

I've had this once, and my god...it was the worst thing I have ever experienced. I tried screaming out for my father I was that scared, I just wanted his reassuring presence there, but I was unable to make a sound. I could only stare vacantly at the ceiling, awaiting the cold sleep that proceeded.

Oh, also, I was chased by a creature that I had never seen before, my friends and family say it was a mask, I disagree. I think that thing was something else...I could hear it whispering inside my head, it's heavy breaths, it's bright red claws. The furry red mane, the long fangs and the pale face. It's piercing green eyes. Following me, scuttling around on the floor. It was there. I'm sure.

Since I very nearly died twelve years ago nothing ever scared me.
The closest I can come to was when I secretly watched Aliens in the middle of the night when I was home alone at age eight.
