That sounds awful. Scarlett as Black Widow is one of the worst parts of the marvel movie universe.
I have nothing against Scarlett Johansson, but she really, really can't do convincing action.
It just looks ridiculous how she needs to VOGUE between every move she makes, like every fight about making her look as attractive as possible.

I wouldn't know, since I haven't read any of the comics.
Either way, comics potentially allow for a drawing to look attractive while also looking cool, or violent, or action-y or whatever.
They can't seem to figure out how to do that here.

I probably would not see that movie. First, I don't think she is that good of an actress. Second, Black Widow is not that interesting of a character. I mean, I would probably rent it, but I have horrible flashbacks of the Electra movie, so I'm a bit biased. I also feel that she is kind of shoehorned into Avengers, to be honest. But, I'm all for it. Perhaps I'll eat my words and it will be awesome. The tricky part is that you will probably have a hard time fitting it into the current flow of the Marvel movies with big world shattering storylines.
Totally agree, she did nothing of value in The Avengers, unless you count getting Banner to come quietly. Her interrogation of Loki to find out what he was after was useless because Banner turned into the Hulk anyway, and her effort to stop the tesseract was in vain because Iron Man flew a nuke right through the portal to stop it anyway. Even Hawk did more than she did. She was there to be eye candy and nothing more.

This.

Not only is Black Widow ill suited for a movie of her own (really, there's nothing there), but Scarlett Johansson just isn't that good an actress.

It seems like a good opportunity to explore what sort of characteristics a person needs to have to be considered a superhero. Tony's got his iron suit of invulnerability, the hulk rages, Thor is a god, all that good stuff. But the Black Widow's character is built mainly on expertise. Maybe she could be fighting somebody with actual superpowers (other than hulking out), and we'd see how she would react, both psychologically and physically. It could lead her down a road of selfish attrition, and then her buddies would have to figure out why she's in their gang to begin with.

So an exploration of how the Black Widow is not only a chance to ask new questions about the Avengers team but also to see how she stacks up without a bunch of mates to help her in a scrap, and all the spy intrigue would set some groundwork for political issues in the next Avengers.

count me in. we need more female heros who kick ass. she can act well and black widow need to be explored more since all the male heros had their own flick.

That would probably be the one Marvel movie I wouldn't watch, but probably would happen to see if it's on TV one day, since I just can't finde an interesting "anything" in the character, even on the movies, as much as they tried to give every hero their own part on the Avengers movie, I thought her part could've been replaced with any generic "wanna enter our team" agent and not much would've changed.

Please, Hollywood, make a movie with a DECENT female hero.

Not the thrown in for the fans "oh i'm a spy look tits" lady. I don't mind Scarlett Johanson as a person but she's only picked for roles because of her sex appeal and she can't really act out a bad-ass.

Give us females an actual superheroine with an actual personality and motivations not just a walking jumpsuit with Scarlett Johansons fabulous booty in it.

Wonder women would be 20000x better
Hell, even catwomen. At least she sort of had depth when she wasn't in the suit.

I could take it or leave it.

I think Johansenn is a decent actress, but I just find Black Widow incredibly boring. This isn't necessarily her fault, her co-stars are:
-A Norse God from another dimension who can summon lightning and wields a hammer only he can pick lift.
-a giant green rage monster with unlimited strength who can rip through buildings by sneezing at them
-A genetically engineered Super-Soldier from WW2 with a indestructible shield.
-a billionaire playboy with the world's most advanced suit of armor, which has repulsor rays, missiles, can fly, and gives him super strength and durability.

Hell, even Hawkeye, the other Avenger with no powers, at least uses a bow with a wide variety of speciality arrows, so at least he has something of a theme going for him. Black Widow's theme seems to be "generic action person 1,372,472 who's good with guns and martial arts, but is a hot chick now!!" She just seems incredibly dull to me.

Maybe an origin story about how she used to be a cold-blooded assassin but then had a moral awakening and joined SHIELD could be interesting, but then it's not even really much of a superhero movie.

In other news, everyone else with a good job would also like to continue having a good job. :p

Can't really blame her for wanting to ride the gravy train for as long as she can, but whether Black Widow can hold up her own stand-alone movie, I couldn't say.

Ha! Good luck with that, Johansson. Wonder Woman herself can't be the protagonist of her starter movie.

I guess they could do something similar to Captain America? Though I'd rather see Spider woman or she Hulk.

The answer to this has been with us since 'The Avengers'.

BW: This is just like Budapest

HE: You and I remember Budapest very differently.

There; the movie could answer the Budapest question.

I mean I personally would much rather see a Ms. Marvel movie (Carol Danvers FTW) but I won't say no to Black Widow.

Does she actually have any super powers or is she just another person in fancy dress, like that guy with the bow & arrows?
Batman doesn't have any super powers either. I don't know why this is such a deal-breaker for people.

She's super-powered by any normal standard, despite not being up to Thor or Hulk standards (FWIW, Iron Man also has no powers and Captain America's powers aren't *that* far in advance of hers). She's also very smart, resourceful and cunning. I can't see any reason why she couldn't have her own movie where she demonstrates the value of those abilities.
Because when you're in THE SAME MOVIE as people with REAL superpowers, then you suck, no matter how much training you have.
You may want to check some of the DC animated movies about the Justice League. In most of them, Batman is the single most important member of the team, sans Superman.

Ive been interested in her ever since the Richard Morgan graphics novels and personally i enjoy Scarlett's portrayal of her, yes i'd definitely like to see a Black Widow movie, but then i'd also like to see a Wonder Woman movie (that wasnt just about tits and ass also)
