There's a new Silent Hill game coming out called Silent Hill: Shattered memories. It asks you a questionnaire and molds the game around your personality in order to cause the maximum amount of pants-crapping.

The Fatal Frame games are also pretty scary.

Jesus Christ that game is scary, that game goes farther than cheap scares.

Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of The Earth. It's not so much SCARY per say, but it can DEFINITELY give you the creeps.

Silent Hill 2 might be the scariest game I've ever played. And it's the good kind of scary, where even though you've played it before, you still worry that something terrifying is going to happen at any moment.

I've heard great things about Eternal Darkness on the Gamecube, and just recently was told about Call of Cthulhu for Xbox, a game where you hallucinate, hear voices, have your vision blur, and shake uncontrollably, all at expense to your sanity. If your sanity gets too low, you take your own life, either with your own weapon your bare hands. How can you not want to play that game??

Silent Hill 2 might be the scariest game I've ever played. And it's the good kind of scary, where even though you've played it before, you still worry that something terrifying is going to happen at any moment.

I have yet to play any scary games. Instead only playing "scary" games that are not scary.So FEAR, Resident Evil 4 and Silent Hill 2 should be out of your list.

I'm still optimistic about Dead Space, Fatal Frame, and Eternal Darkness but I've yet to play them.

Dead Space is mainly cheep scares (HOLY SHIT THAT THING JUST JUMPED AT ME...oh ok I killed it) but its very good at them. Plus its just fun to play, scary or not.

A lot of the old CD-ROM first-person puzzle adventures were pretty creepy. Even MYST at some points, in spite of itself, was kind of unsettling just because of the total isolation.

Myst scared the hell out of me sometimes when I played it for the first time.

Doom 3 was really good for those big freak out moments, but there's not much in the way of mind games. The Suffering was really good too, but its mostly a psychological game. Same with Clock Tower 3. I havent finished playing it but it was pretty intense. Fatal Frame 2 and 3 were freakin scary.

Doom 3 had pretty good atmosphere that lead to some tense moments.

D3 was too predictable..anytime when you were not fighting monsters you could always count on one appearing out of nowhere around the next corner or where it was dark.

One of the first games I played that was kinda scary was Parasite Eve on the PS1.

I downloaded and played the PC Demo of F.E.A.R..and its only one of a few games that a 40 year old says that he has played that has ever scared him..I believe him..he's used to playing "scary" games.

Silent hill is probably the right way to go.

I for one found the gamecube remake of resident evil the scariest of the series, and if you want something with a lot of suspense, play RE4 simply because putting yourself in such close quarters with a megafuckton of enemies is scary in the sense of "OH MY GOD I'M GOING TO DIE."

I love the original Alone in the Dark series. (before new nightmare) Yes, the graphics are awful compared to anything from the past 15 years, but the game was so much fun trying to beat the final boss. (Put talisman down, light lighter, throw lighter at tree, RUN.)
