There's already a thread about the saddest episodes in comedies, but one I've been thinking of doing for a while is, what were the scariest episodes you saw on television, regardless of genre?

My choices are clear:

"Dragon's Domain", from the oldie "Space: 1999". I saw this as a kid, and it scared the fuck out of me. I've re-watched it recently, and though no longer scary, it remains a hell of a good piece of science-fiction.

"Shapes", from the first season of "The X-Files". I've always had a thing for werewolves, and the minimalistic approach of "The X-Files" made the topic even more scary.

"V", the original. Not the shitty-ass remake. Those lizards just freaked the fuck out of me, and Diana eating that mouse took me completely by fucking surprise!

Wow, someone else knows about Space: 1999? Not just one, but two other people? I had thought I was the only one... I should have known better. This is the internet!

OT: Lost could be pretty freaky at times, but I do not remember a specific episode that scared me. Same with The Prisoner. I think the scariest episode of a television show I have seen was The Avengers episode "Too Many Christmas Trees" (I think that was what it was called). That stupid creepy Santa from the dream sequence really freaked me out...

You can't beat most episodes of 'The Twilight Zone' for creep factor.

However, probably the only thing that comes to mind would be the television series 'American Gothic'. Especially the pilot episode; you can just see how evil the town's sheriff (Gary Cole) really is.

And speaking of 'The X-Files', the episode 'Toomy'. Brr.
