Argh! I read the title, didn't realise what SCEE was and thought some mad CEO of an obscure company was doing an Emperor, all hunched over in black cloaks going "I want to see... suffering."

Amazing what a vivid image 6 words can give.
Wet Donkey Humping Two Angry Midgets

How does that one work out for you >_>

"Overall, the market has sharpened up individual competitors to do better - we should celebrate the industry and how we've collectively grown it beyond all recognition." "

Yeah...I'm not happy about that. In part why I think gaming is crashing in quality.

(sigh) i'd have to guess that he's got somewhere between 800 to 1,000 DVDs.... and as to the other half of this conversation, it was only a guess......
then will have to wonder why your movie buff friend has no blu-ray, there is also the question of how long he's had the player

Ok, admittedly I don't own a PS3 so I can't say much as certain fact
Hence, everything else you say is completely invalid.
Above: definition of Fanboy.
no it's not, it's a valid and correct argument, you can't really make a valid argument about something you don't know anything about, if you do it's called truthiness

You should have just said 360. Strong community and good store. Don't care for the Wii's friend codes, and can't use the store since the system won't update. PSN's US store is grossly slim.
really? since when there's several hundred items in the playstation store, slim would be a couple items, there's at least 20 new things added each week, kotaku has a great summary of the updates they put out each week

you're post was the definition of a fanboy

Fanboy: Zealous person favorable towards one object they own while vehement towards another they do not.

And yes some could call me a fanboy of the PS3 (owning one) since I constantly jest about the Xbox 360 (not owned.) But I am one of the better types, having atleast constricted myself to as close to proper English and punctuation as my American raising can warrant. Although I do constantly end sentences with a hanging preposition. It seems pretty common among my dialect.

I also stand by my statement. I get that e-newsletter every week telling me what 19 new movies are available along with a demo and DLC. However, since on a primarily gaming website where people primarily talk about games, one would assume I don't care about the movies. The PSN's offered selection of games for the current and back systems is still pretty skimpy in the U.S. as compared to Japan (thanks internet.)

And DLC is oftentimes a waste of money. Every now and then there's a nifty expansion that actually holds value, but it's usually just cosmetic accessories.

Or cheats to bypass actually playing the game.

-The PS3 is way better online than the wii ( in that you can actually play a multiplayer game on PSN for over 30 seconds without it crashing, unlike the wii network) and there's little difference between PSN and XBL. Sure XBL is a more refined experience, but for the millions of dollars they get for it, it should be WAY better, and it just isn't.
Never once had a problem with the Wii network. Never crashed, dropped, or unable to connect. Never couldn't find people to play against, and the wait times have been relatively low.
In my experience with Xbox Live, it was buggy, glitchy, it lagged to the point where it was literally unplayable, there was a noticeable wait. So therefore Xbox Live is far far worse than the PsN.
I haven't had any problems with Xbox Live or the Wii Network.

I've looked at the ps3's stuff, and I rather like the way it looks. The dashboard UI alone has a very calming feel to it, unfortunatley it doesn't have the huge game selection I want. Even for the games I do want that are on it I can easily just buy them for 360.

Sadly though I will be buying in the far future when god of war 3 comes out....rat bastards making it a ps3 exclusive. One can only hope they will have a change of heart and give 360 a slice of the pie so I don't waste money on a system for one game....

EDIT Yes, I'm a diehard GoW fanboy

actually both ps3 and the wii are behind in Japan not only in the store BUT in the games that are offered on the system and always have been for each and every generation of console. any gamer would know this if they've bothered to follow more than one generation of game system. i remember games for the nes that you couldn't get in north america cause they were japan only games.

as for the movies well 360 offers them so should the ps3, it's just a keeping up with the jones, as for downloadable stuff, there's actually some amazing games on there, such as echochrome and pain

yeah funny how a Sony owned studio would make a ps3 only game, much like those bastards at Bungie making 360 only games

So Sony Computer Entertainment Santa Monica (the people who make the series) should give the game to the 360, despite the fact that it would mean doubling their workload or signifigantly scaling back their ambition?
Yes...yes they should, why should I have to buy a completley new system just to play one game? Its the exact reason as to why I never bought a Wii, that and a laundry list of other reasons that make a crazy person look sane.

But yeah, I knew who was making it, and it does make perfect sense that sony would want to hang on to at least one title they know wouldn't go to the Wii or 360 on them they know will sell like crazy.

You don't have to buy a completely new System, if you knew you were going to get it eventually you could have just bought a Ps3 to begin with.
To begin with, I was holding out hope that there might be a 360 port. Secondly I'm not going to buy a system so it can collect dust on a shelf while I wait for a game that I know is 2-3 years down the road from the release of the system. The ps3 has nothing I want, not yet anyway, the fact that GoW3 is a ps3 exclusive really makes me inclined not to buy it. Despite the fact that it would forever torment me I don't have it. Wasting, what is it, 400 or $500 on a giant black paper weight is not something I'm prepared to do. I'm dead serious, GoW3 is the ONLY game that appeals to me on that console.

And don't give me the blue ray bs, I don't own any blue ray dvd's nor do I intend to buy any when they have cheaper dvd counter parts.

Sony is going to do what it can to make a profit, that's how businesses and the economy works. The PS3 is quite pricy, but you get what you pay for. The features offered with the PS3 grossly outweigh those of the Wii and the XBOX 360. If you look at the Wii and XBOX 360 in terms of multimedia, the Wii lacks completely in the area, while the 360 offers DVD play.

In online, the 360 has a very good online service, as well as it should for the price. The PSN is quite decent itself, yet it is free to all, and continues to grow and is starting to outpace XBL in terms of numbers and quality of content.

Dropping the price is a bad move for Sony because profits (that they are barely making now) are necessary for them to keep up their content and commitment to excellence. Sony itself has plenty of financial resources to stay in the console war with ease, and they are looking for stick with their 10 year goal. Whatever Microsoft comes out with next is going to be possibly superior to the PS3, but not by far.

They are just sticking with their game plan, it'll work for them, as it did with the PS2.

I bet Sony isn't doing all that well in the current recession. A super-priced console with few games isn't all that friendly to people with little cash. Buy a wii, or an Xbox if you want to shoot some stuff.

Hey why did the Sega Dream Cast went to console hell?
Well because it had awesome graphics but the game console and the games were very expensive. Poor people like Meeeee couldn't buy them even if we wanted to. also allot of games that were coming out for it were not using all the horses on the hood so its potential was in stranglehold. also there were only a FEW good games other were crappy to say the least. Allot can argue that this is what is happening to the wii (I know such a good concept shamed by things like wii music.) But the PS3 is getting the cost issue. I freaking love Heavenly sword, sword calibur, Ninja Gaiden and even the movie with game bits Metal Gear Solid 4. The problem is that I go play it at my rich friend's house! i don't own a PS3 and it is because it costs an EYE! Also their advertisement, IT is Horrendous, i have never seen a PS3 game ad. PlayStation is like "You like us? then you would probably be visiting our web page daily to see what is new." You have to be REALLY HARD CORE, But i mean REALLY Hard Core to be on top of your PS3. If you are selling the console equivalent of a Lamborghini then you should go above and beyond, Like clubs, and REALLY personalized construction. Not go for amazing graphics and expect the masses to pay 600 bucks for it.

And for the handhelds, this i is all i have to say,
Whats funner putting your hand on the screen or having it slip off your analogue stick?
