A new school year begins, and for anyone graduating in 2009 like myself, the last of the pathetic Highschool. Thus big companies offer piles of cash to do something simple for them and give you this cash to whoever asks, although those who choose are a select few it seems.
I recently heard of the excellent advice to apply for every single scholarship I can get my hands on, because they assume of me (which would be true) I like free money.

Have you/do you have a scholarship? Do you plan on getting one? Your take:

I got one from ASU for 9,000 a year. After Tuition I only got 1180 dollars. But hey, that covers books and parking at least. I like free money.

waaaay back(about a year ago) when I started going to college, I applied for but one measly scholarship, little heard of, little applied for and notoriously easy to get, and you can apply at the beginning of each term. And I got it! That was the easiest $750.00 I ever made...

My advice for you is to apply to every single scholarship you ever hear about, seek out those you haven't heard about, and apply to every one of them...

Trust me it makes your life easier...

I learned this one from my bartender. What she would do at the beginning of the year she would ask the financial aid office for high class scholarships that have a tier level. She would apply for the highest one then turn it in. The highest one would turn her down of course BUT they would send her info to the next scholarship and the next one and next one. She will usually get accepted by 3 or 4 scholarships, the only thing she would end up paying for are her books. I asked my financial aid office if that was true and they confirmed that it does work, but you have to do it before the fall semester. Hope this helps, have fun at college.

In Massachusetts I get the Abigael (spelling?) Adam's scholarship for doing so well on my MCAS, which is basically a state wide aptitude test. This scholarship is for free tuition to any state school for up to 5 years. Plus, I get some from my college for some reason I can't fathom as I have yet to do anything to earn them. Not complaining though.

Teehee.
...Thank you for pointing that out. I only got it really because my math scores were perfect and I can read and find errors in other people's works pretty well. Not so good on the correcting myself thing sometimes though.

Oh man, if only my scholarships were numerous enough. I've got nothing, except expenses. Save yourself some trouble, get a scholarship.

I have a student loan instead.

Whoa. We have student loans in here, but those come with BIG interests after a while. I'd hate to be graduated and already be in debt.

I've got one scholarship, but I have to actually do some work for it. It's not free for sure.

I got one in High School for LOTE (Languages other than English) which meant I had to do Italian and French in order to be part of the program. To get into the program, I had to sit an IQ test and write an essay. Sadly, I didn't actually get any money from the scholarship, I just got to say "Gee whiz! Look at me! I'm in a special program for smart people!"

Take all the scholarships you can. Once you see how the universities scam you, you won't feel any moral aversion.
