I'm currently in my last year of college (That's british college which I believe is called high school in America). So I thought maybe a discussion about schools is in order =) What in your opinion are the best and worst things about school? This could be things you've experienced or things you've heard about, I don't mind xD So to start us off...

The best thing about school in my opinion would be the people you meet, teachers as well as other students. I met the two guys who are now my best friends in high school (middle school to americans I think) about 7 years ago now, and I've met a lot of other awesome people there too!
The worst thing about school has to be bullying. As I see it most people experience some form of bullying at some point in their life and a lot of it happens in school. I've not had very bad experiences with bullies but I know people that have and it's a horrible thing to see.

So there you have it, my views on school, so what do you guys think?

For high school at least, the hours seriously sucked. My first high school class started at 7:20 am, which meant school finished before 2:30 pm. My earliest university class started at 8 am., and I don't think I took more than three classes starting that early.

Nothing really stands out as being particularly awesome from high school. Most of the people I hung out with were assholes I stopped seeing after I dropped out. The course content was insultingly easy (as were the first few years of university).

The good- When you got teacher who good at their teaching and are funny aswell. Also when the topic in the subject can be interesting to learn.

The bad- Pretty much the social aspect of it you know like bullying, name calling, the annoying kid in the classroom and etc.

It's a shame the school experience was that bad for you =/ I at least enjoyed some aspects, because as I saw it, if I hated it and it was going to be a big part of my life for a while then I thought I'd go insane =/

I agree that the social experience can be bad, but did you keep in touch with any friends?

Oh hell no!! The "friends" I made in High School used to torment my flaws and make fun of me all the time during those years! (I made some better and geniue real friends in University instead).
I refuse to keep in touch with those arses that I reject their FB friend invite. I'm just glad that my parent moved out of that town when I was in Uni so I never ever had to visit that town ever again in the off chance I see them in town!
Yes I am very bitter at them and I can hold a grude that long!

The good - The chance to learn how to read, write, some basic math. Getting to spend your formative years in relative security where the only thing that matters is how hard you try, in a system that is designed entirely for your benefit. Forming friendships with all kinds of people, especially in later stages, where it's not just the people from your town/village.

The bad - I suppose the social situation could be this. Many people are not so lucky to get in with a group of friends with whom they agree. I personally I have no experience with cliques, I doubt they exist here. But still, a mix of people from all backgrounds with whom you have nothing in common with but having to be in the same institution. I guess this could be similar to prison in some ways.

The bad particular to my situation - Pricks who graduate from a university program and act entitled. I mean shit, good on you for making it through school. But frankly, getting to study at one of the top 100 universitys in the world, and the top in the country, for free, is an incredible opportunity and a tremendous privelige. Society doesn't owe you shit, society paid for your education.

I barely actually went to school even before I dropped out. The school day itself was just sort of blah. I wasn't bullied and generally got along well, but it just seemed like such a waste of my time.

The best thing was not having to work at all compared to university/job, and the worst thing was everything else. I suppose the only positive side was having a few opportunities to meet teachers who truly inspired me, and do some self-study at the expense of the state. But I don't know whether they were worth the trade off.

The good:
It's where you meet a lot of your friends for starters. Since I'm lazy when it comes to going out I guess it's a compulsory and yet nice place to hang out with friends. I thought the stuff I learnt in my sixth form classes was pretty interesting. It gave me something to do with all my free time. I liked my teachers (mostly), they were fun to talk to. Aaaaand... qualifications are good?

The bad:
I never experienced any of the following but bullying and peer pressure (I say I didn't experience peer pressure but my friends did try pretty damn hard to get me to start smoking weed again near the exam period, so I guess peer pressure just didn't concern me like it does others). Others probably have problems with their teachers, but I never did.

I honestly loved school, and now I'm off to Uni. I'm sincerely hoping it's gonna be as fun as school has been these last two years.
