So, my high school's prom is tomorrow. I got everything ready, tux, transport, whatever, but I still have no idea what to expect. Are there any kind souls who could offer some general tips (especially on dancing :< )?

Just to jazz up this topic somewhat.. anybody got some interesting experiences to share about their prom? ;0

Tips on dancing? We just goofed off for a couple of hours in between slow dancing with our dates. We even had a conga line going at one point. The ability to dance is not required.

At most proms, if you at least try to dance, you pass 80 percent of the crowd. Just go to have fun and treat it like a regular hang out.

I remember when I asked out a girl to the prom. I was waiting for her to get a dress so I could go and get a tux. But by the time the prom was just a few days away, she told she couldn't find a dress. So as a result, we couldn't go.

So, I'm afraid I can't offer any advice on something I've never really experienced. I apologize.

I didn't go to any of my proms. Mostly I'm not that type but also because well...there were just so many jerks and assholes there that I had to spend time with during school so why would I PAY to go spend time around them on a weekend? That and the teacher who was in charge was an ANAL *****. And not the good kind. She made us stop what we were doing in class to help build the freakin decorations. Wait...she let the kids who had their lips glued to her ass do what they wanted. Only the ones she had given up on had to build those things.

My advice: fuck the rules. You only live once. Don't do anything that might get you killed, but seriously dance like an idiot, give your a girl a big overly dramatic kiss, yell, laugh. Just have fun and make the best of it. And if you wind up in a jail cell. Well then...your doing it right.

We just hung about, had a laugh, went to an after party, drank some (kinda hard to put the effort in when you've onyl started drinking at like 1 in the morning) I left early with a girl I was interested in, my mates got pissed and then managed to start a fight at this party, got kicked out, they caught up to me and this girl not long after, got home after a good night about 4 in the morning.

Good times.

I went to both my Junior and Senior Proms. Junior Prom was awful because my date, a girl whom I had been planning on asking out went out of her way to avoid talking to me, which rather spoiled my evening. My senior prom was much better. I got all of my friends to go, and my girlfriend and I went together, ensuring that Senior Prom wouldn't be a repeat of the last one.

As for dancing, here's my advice. Hold your hands in the air. Move your body around in some way. You did it, you are dancing! Slow dancing is even easier since you just have to sway back and forth. You don't really need any skill. And above all, just have fun.

At my senior year prom, we had a girl give birth in the bathroom (I know, cliche), five kids snuck in beer and got drunk (which when i tell people form other highschools must be some low number I guess), and we had the cops called in about an hour and fifteen into the five hour affair (we had long proms) when a group of men got into a fight and busted each other open using brass knuckles and rings (and I think one had a knife), resulting in one in critical condition, and all of them needing some number of stitches.

... Which is why I'm glad I didnt go. Isntead, my friends and I decided that we would dress a little nice (nice jeans, a nice button up shirt, hair managed, tennis shoes, etc), went out to the movies, some bowling, stopped in on the dunken Donuts and then went to the parking lot of an Eat n Park while it was closing and had a radio play as we all just danced.

the price difference? well, lets see. it would have cost 120 (american) dollars for a pair of tickets, if you didnt have a tux, almost 80 for the whole suit get up, However much you spent in gas to get there, and the optional after "party" at a hotel would have ran probably 89 dollars for a pair that night. So thats (about for me) 310 dollars.

the night I had instead, a little under 50 dollars total.

So yeah, iw ould suggets just not going and doing something fun otuside of prom instead, but thats just me.

Don't dance other than slow dancing. The main dancing will just be people goofing around.

Just be sure to try your best to have fun.

What the heck is an Eat n Park? It sounds like a cross between a diner and a trailer park.

As for dancing, I recommend you Do the Hustle.

We have a different approach here in my country, we do have a "prom" like dance, not very elaborated, then we travel to a city with our classmates. As for dance... do you have a girlfriend or girl friend?

They've been featured in "Man vs Food"

Looks nice, though just about all of the USA's restaurants are.

Never went to prom. Of course I was homeschooled so we didn't have anything like that. Quite frankly I think prom is waste of time. Never really understood the point.

Step 4. Profit.

Didnt know that, but thanks. and glad you liked what you saw. They're nice places to go, and its nice that they're... decently priced, I suppose.
