I will never understand what happened to Villeneuve. When he was an up and coming racer in CART he had this fire that was just incredible to watch. The pressures of F1 (and possibly living up to his father?) seemed to have really burned him out. Sad.

And everyone who always complained about Schumi in his ferrari days and "not being able to win without having the best car" obviously weren't watching him with Benetton, when he DID NOT have the best car, and still took home championships.
what happend to villeneuve was that he decided to start BAR with craig pollock. but at some point after the creation of BAR craig pollock wasnt making really good decisions, but since he was a personnal friend of villeneuve, he followed him blindly. When he stopped following Pollock, it was too late. And the bad years of BAR didnt helped him to place himself in a good team afterward, and also the fact that when something dont work like he want, he's not afraid to tells it.

Now he still race in smaller evens, stock cars, a bit of NASCAR. The guy like racing, so he often show up at local events to race, just for fun. But i know that he said the the press that he was interrested in getting back to F1 if he have an offer, because he like the new rules

Since ferraris cars arent really as good as brawns i dont think he will win any races.
Obviously Brawns Cars aren't good enough to prevent bits falling off them and nearly killing someone though...While ferrari's crumpled perfectly with that head on smash.

I thought this was going to be about Joel Schumacher coming back to the Batman franchise. I was waaaaay off....
This thread alone tells us that there are a lot of European folk around here. Most people in the U.S. don't know dick about Formula 1.

For the record, I came into this thread thinking the same thing.

i'm actually glad to see him comming back in thoses conditions. at the peak of his career, lots of people were whinning : "oh, he isnt that great, he just have the best car and the best team to go with it."
I was like Private Custard, I was a Hill fan back when Schumi raced for Benetton and the language I used when I saw Hill's suspension had failed as a result of the crash at Adelaide. However after he moved to Ferrari and nearly won the title in his first season there despite the fact that it was a team that had done nothing of note for nearly two decades. Well that's when I started to respect the talent. I saw everyone of his races for Ferrari, frankly he was epic.

Of course the argument about having the best team and car was one of the things that annoyed me most. Everyone sees the driver but fails to also see that Schumi wasn't just a great driver but a professional in every aspect of the sport. He didn't get gifted the best car and best team to win his championships, like some, cough Hamilton, he built the team round him. He attracted and brought the folk needed to not just build a championship winning team but a team that effectively dominated the sport for five years.

He had the best car and the best team because he helped to build it, that is something that many people seem to forget.

Can't wait to see him back, and perfect timing too, just as Ferrari and Mclaren have both managed to claw their way back to the sharp end and start competing with each other, I'd always wanted to see Schuey VS Hamilton because I think Hammy is equally as good, same with Button, Vettel and the grumpy spaniard.

Schuey VS Hamilton because I think Hammy is equally as good,
I don't.

The only driver that can go toe to toe with Scumi as an all round driver is Alonso.

I say that because Alonso has done what Scumi did. Went from a Championship winning team to a poor team and then managed to get more out of the car than any other driver could have. Button used to drive for a duff team and shockingly enough didn't get much out of the car whilst there. Now he has a decent car everyone is saying how wonderful he is, which is funnily enough what they did with Hamilton last year and this year he has a crap car and shockingly enough he has done nothing with that as well.

Alonso and Schumi could win a race in a car that another driver couldn't win a race with Hamilton and Button couldn't. LOL Hamilton couldn't win a race in a car that should be able to win the race, see the meal he made of Brazil at the end of last year.
