Schwarzenegger Set to Return in New Terminator Film

The Terminator franchise is coming back to the big screen with the original Terminator as its star.

When Arnold Schwarzenegger was first elected governor of California, many believed that his days as the Terminator II [http://www.amazon.com/Terminator-Blu-ray-Arnold-Schwarzenegger/dp/B000F9RB9Y/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1303917690&sr=8-1], were over. They were wrong. Schwarzenegger has reportedly signed a deal to return to the series in a new, upcoming Terminator film.

Let's just get this over with: Schwarzenegger said he'd be back, and he meant it. Are you happy now?

Deadline reports that Schwarzenegger is attached to star in a Terminator movie currently being shopped around to studios, with Universal, Sony, Lionsgate, and CBS Films taking a close interest. Schwarzenegger is said to be looking to return to the limelight after his run at governor ends through more means than the animated Governator [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/108905-Schwarzenegger-Becomes-Bodybuilding-Batman-in-Stan-Lees-Governator] series.

Justin Lin of Fast & Furious [http://www.amazon.com/Fast-Furious-2-Disc-Special-Blu-ray/dp/B002AT4K9Q/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1303925284&sr=8-2] and recent Fast Five fame is a frontrunner to direct, but nothing is set in stone yet. North American rights for the Terminator franchise will revert back to James Cameron in 2018, so any studio taking the plunge will want to do so as soon as possible to potentially get a set of films out.

The last Terminator movie to be released was Terminator: Salvation [http://www.amazon.com/Terminator-Salvation-Directors-Cut-Blu-ray/dp/B001FB55I0/ref=sr_1_2?s=dvd&ie=UTF8&qid=1303925976&sr=1-2] which focused on the war between Skynet and humanity, rather than Terminators trying to kill people in the past to make that war go their way. The upcoming film with Schwarzenegger doesn't have a basic plotline yet, so it could take place in in any setting or time period.

It could be a remake of the first film. After Terminator 4 it would even make sense since the story has come full circle.

DINOSAURS. I want it set in the prehistoric era and the terminator tries to stop the ice age, changing history and then he fails, gets frozen and thaws out in the terminator 1 and teams up with himself and succeeds in killing John Connor.

Salvation was a pg13 kidified action figure marketing crap on the franchise. At least rise of the machines tried to honor the series.

The anthropomorphization of Skynet into yet another damn moronic evil overlord was so bad it hurt my feelings. The whole thing that made Skynet a cool enemy was that it was invisible, everywhere, and emotionless.

I really hope this one goes back to the roots of the original where there is this unstoppable force and the only way to stop it is extreme ingenuity, luck, and personal sacrifice.

I will forgive Salvation and Terminator 3, if you make this one good. Please make Christoph Waltz the villain (Somehow). Only another Austrian could possibly match Arnie.

They should just make this into a musical comedy set in the Terminator universe. It could be so flipping great on so many levels...

There's just no way this can work out. Arnie's gotten old. His body has turned to play-doh and he's learned how to talk like a real human being. That said, there's no way I'd miss this if it came out. And that's probably what they're counting on.

The first Terminator I won't watch. Salvation really ruined it, whereas Rise of the Machines just left an awful taste. Arnold camping it up will probably be the best part. Oh and the director did Fast and the Fabulous? Isn't that just such a fucking scintillating pedigree.

This is like trying to bring John Elway back to win a Super Bowl for the Broncos. It may sound intriguing at first, but after about 5 seconds of thought you realize what a stupid and doomed idea that is..

It needs to be set in the future that we have been promised, PROMISED, by the past three films (Salvation does not count, I don't care what you say). I want my dark skies, skull-covered ground, hundreds of terminators roaming the area, giant Short Circuit robots, humans firing rockets out of the back of pickup trucks, and PURPLE LASER GUNS that blow either a hole through you, or blow you apart. And the cheezy sound effects they make when they fire.
This is what the next Terminator movie needs to be about. Two hours of nothing but that future war.

First we was bad. Then he was good. Third he was... well, not any different. Fourth he was computer generated. Fifth he is gonna be... saggy?

We are not going to see a senator shooting up the place with a minigun.
Not again.

He was in the last film too, remember? His face was. "I am going to be in the film", doesn't mean anything. Hell, Peter Jackson was in all three Lord of the Rings movies. And Stan Lee in every Marvel Movie ever made.
