The snail armour would be pretty gosh darn hard to make...

And expensive. I think that if they are able to make it, they'll make trauma plates and helmets out of them.

I look forward to technology making it harder to kill each other. Huzza!

Man, the Yellowstone supervolcano scares the crap out of me.
For good reason. I remember reading somewhere that the explosion and resultant ash ejection would equal the devastating effects of a low- to medium-grade nuclear detonation. Minus the radiation, of course.
Plus global weather change due to the amount of dust in the upper layers of the atmosphere. Add to this the massive amount of magma that will spew out and cover more than the Yellowstone park it self and ash covering maybe half of North America and you will get a better picture of the effects. (P.S. the resulting explosion might well be stronger than the entire nuclear arsenal of the USA - although I'm not too sure on the numbers here, it's been a long time since I last read about it.)

with the kind of atmosphere that that snail endures, is it possible that it could live on Venus? Just wondering.

The "Beer Theory" is actually pretty old news in Archeological/Pre-Historical Circles. I remember it being a prominent point in World History and Cultural Anthropology courses I took back in University.

A quick request - would it please be possible to covert the measurements into SI units in your articles and put them in brackets?

I can understand quoting in atmospheres and why you'd want to quote in °F, but in the scientific community, we like things in SI.

And before you say it, yes I could do it myself, but after a couple of beers, it seems more trouble than its worth.

Seeeee, mother nature skimps on giving mankind the good stuff! We get soft, squishy flesh and gastrapods get natural armour, good quality stuff too!

Also yeah, you can imagine that alcohol was a pretty big part of establishing civilizations, considering it's value, which stays today, and many uses.

yeah - but nature gave us the intelligence to create a really BIG hammer, which will eventually get through anything...

Why does it have to be a hammer!? Surely they will create a series of weapons with this wonder material, which will no doubt add another lot of gear to the Science Fiction, ranking higher than Mythril and Adamantium haha.

aye, and this hammer will be made of Phlebotanium, the ultimate in weapons material design.

of course, this hammer won't be any good, til someone invents a similar chisel...
