Actually, I can't even share my honest opinion on this without getting banned.
Sometimes it really sucks to be an extremist.

Anyway, if nothing else, this is a good day for science.
And for that, I will rejoice.
Why do I get the idea you're a member of Delphi? (from Trauma Center, in case you didn't know)
Not a big fan of "God's will," which is what Wikipedia leads me to believe is their reason for resisting disease cures.

Actually, while I know that AIDS undoubtedly affects people who don't deserve it, I can't help but think that there are some people who got it because they're massive, stupid sluts.
And it's them I don't really want cured.

Yes, I am awful.
Blame nature, not nurture.

Anyway, as I said, looking past my extremism, this is still really cool.
Just wish it had been a way to cure all cancer forever.
You know what? Thinking about how many people are suffering from it due to plain ignorance (mostly in Africa, through no real fault of their own,) I have revised my opinion.
After all, I don't need a disease to help me off whores.
Woo science! Cure that disease! (or help develop a vaccine or whatever you know best)
Max, I swear, in another life we were meant to be together.

I totally understand where you're coming from, and I feel exactly the same way.

The whores don't deserve a vaccine, but certainly there are plenty of good people out there, who do.

Damn the whores. Especially the idiots who don't use protection, have kids accidentally, and cost us decent people millions in taxes, when their neglected and unwanted kids inevitably get sent to prison.

This discovery could change the world as we know it. If there's a latent strand of DNA for HIV, imagine what other diseases we could latently be immune to.

Really most STD's such as HIV could have completely been avoided in America if people decided that they wouldn't screw around with people older then them. Just one generation decide that maybe i could try getting a partner from my own age group.
You do realise that AIDS has a twenty-five percent rate of perinatal transmission, which also is the cause of ninety-one percent of cases among children?[sup][1][/sup] [http://www.cdc.gov/hiv/topics/perinatal/1test2lives/]

This is amazing! Three cheers for genetic research!

But *cough*28 days later*cough*I am Legend*cough*
Screwing with DNA can sometimes lead to, well, problems. I think it's time to start developing my Z-Day survival plan and stock up on supplies.

Seriously though, this is amazing news.

Among Children and i'm sure somebody who has had it since birth would be a lot more careful then someone who doesn't even know they have it. I was talking more of STDs in General with this and i said in another post that i wouldn't really go as far on the age thing that i put in that post.

I hope only good comes of this, though, I fear many bad things will as well.

Not as the "We've tampered with Nature! *Insert face melting here* but this "cure" not being given to those who need it, that it's hoarded, or the price is too high.

Another way to look at it, which I believe no one adressed. The population.

Unless we starting colonizing space, or have orbiting colonies, it's gonna get crowded real quick.

I'm not saying people deserve to have AIDS, no one does. Nobody deserves to die like that, especially those who didn't do anything wrong.

Now, does it do anything else? Is only Retrocyclin activated, or is something else being let into the body? And what does this stuff do to someone without AIDS?
