There's a Former Fat Boys song called 7 Evil Exes in which there is a line mentioning the 7 Deadly Sins from the Bible, which got me thinking "Are the 7 evil exes representations of the 7 Deadly Sins?"

song link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LMb8rYUiXRc&feature=channel

Lets start by listing out the Sins and the exes so everyone is on the same page

sins: Exes:
Lust Mathew Patel (Hipster Chicks)
Gluttony Lucas Lee (Famous Actor/Skater, Sellout)
Greed Todd Ingram (Vegan bass player for Clash at Demonhead)
Sloth Roxie (Half Ninja chick)
Wrath Kyle Katayanagi (1/2 of Katayanagi twins)
Envy Ken Katayangi (other half)
Pride Gideon Graves (Leader of the League of Evil Exes)

Ok, my theory about this is:

Lucas Lee is greed because it mentioned many times in the comic's by Wallace that he is a sellout, he almost even takes cash to forget all about the fight and tell Gideon that he lost.

Todd Ingram is Gluttony, because even though is a vegan he decides that because he is a rockstar he can eat what ever he wants, so he eats Gelato and chicken.

Roxie is Envy because she is jealous of the relationship Ramona has with Scott.

Gideon is Pride, because (at least in the movie, have unfortunately not read vol 6) he is a very cocky bastard who seems to think that Romona could only be happy with him, and is willing to assemble a league and fight to make it happen.

Mathew Patel and the Katayanagi Twins I'm not sure about, one of the twins could be Sloth because they only fight with robots and not with their own fights. Patel could be lust because of something, those I'm not so sure about.

So fans of Scott Pilgrim, what do you think? Do you have any thoughts on what the Katayanagi twins or Mathew Patel could represent? Does this theory just sound completely stupid. thanks

It's interesting, but it doesn't quite work for the most part.

Also I'd rather not think too much past the "This is awesome" part of it. Is that so wrong?

You have Roxie and a Katayanagi both listed as Sloth. It's certainly an interesting concept, though I don't think anyone really embodies Sloth very well. The rest make decent enough sense, though.

Edit: Pointless post I made.

Edit edit: this one specifically, not the one before.

Not really, I watched the film and read your examples from the comic and they barely count, gluttony is letting your mother starve to death so you can eat more and rather than eating to live your living to eat, eating chicken and gelato when vegan is not to that extreme.

Yeah, you're reading too much into this. The fights were set up as boss battles and seven was probably just randomly chosen by Bryan Lee O'Malley. Nothing makes it look like the numbers were chosen to represent sins.

Does it really matter?

Scott Pilgrim doesn't seem like the kind of thing you would look very far into.

I dunno, maybe it's different in the books, two of which have just arrived by postal today, which I plan on reading very soon.

I know the original song you're referring to and after I heard that song for the first time I thought about that too because of a line about the seven deadly sins. However, when you think about it, it seems more and more like coincidence. The twins in particular weren't even really characterized enough that this comparison could work.

Yeah only like 3 of the Exes really fit the sins, the others just kind of "I guess...".

It doesn't really fit.
