I bought a new game the other day and It has a few scratches and it won't work how should I fix it? Oh, if it helps the game is Star Wars Starfighter. Which I love!

Ahahahh... I remember playing that game on Nintendo 64. I'm very surprised it's on the ps2. yes it's very good game. I also liked the battlefront series for similar functions, although no inside cock-pit scenery which really sucked.

So. How deep are these "few scratches"?

And, if you have a game store nearby, chances are they have a disk repairing machine. it might cost 5 dollars or so but it'll get it working for sure.

Anything else is mostly jury-rigging, and I refuse to recommend.

Only on sundays...
They are 1mm deep if not smaller

Does it get to the middle area of the disc at all?

(The little circle in the very middle, clear looking)
No their only on the outskirts of the disc. The middle is completely fine.

Here's the real question: does it go through the data layer? If it's on the side with the label, you're pretty much SOL. If it's on the protective plastic side, there's things you can do to reduce the depth of the scratch, although in my experience when the scratches are bad enough to impede reading, the only thing that can fix it is a professional scratch removal machine, which you can usually find at a local record store. They'll charge, like, $5 and when you get the disc back, it'll look like it's brand new. There's a few other things you can try though, from rubbing it with a bananna peel to rubbing it with toothpaste.
