So I just got back from going to Wal-Mart's 8:00 black Friday deal where they were selling 3 month X box live gold card for $12 so I decided to buy one. Once I grabbed the card I decided to go back and get another and assumed I grabbed the same card since it said 3 month Xbox live gold on it but when I got to the register there was a different story. One card rang up the $12 as I expected while the other one rang up as $25. Since the store was packed I didn't feel like arguing with the cashier and I certainly didn't want to go back to the electronics department. So yeah screw you Wal-Mart for not being able to realize that a card might have 2 different versions.
This is what one card looked like

And the other one looked like this

Um....is this a real thread?

Go beat yourself up about it. All you had to do was put your foot down. Who gives a shit if the store is packed? You should have outright told them they overcharged you. Would have been fixed in a matter of seconds. It' freaking Walmart dude! No one expects great customer service but kudos to you for caring about that lady in her rascal in line behind you lol. :p
This . It's your fault for not saying anything . Because you didn't say anything when it was time to , you don't have the right to complain .

The store being packed would have probably been to your advantage, seeing as they'd have to answer you quickly as to not upset other patrons.

The cards have a few cosmetic differences and perhaps have different SKU's. (Not the same as different barcodes mind you)

It was probably something where a batch number got mixed up in teh system and wasn't marked for the special for Black Friday.

You should have said something. Its idiotic i know, but saying something would have saved you 12 bucks.

Que sera sera, eh?

As someone who spent the entirety of his Thanksgiving evening on the other side of that equation, IE cashiering for a black Friday sale, I have ZERO sympathy for you. You grabbed the wrong card. Don't get me wrong, I understand that they are essentially the exact same thing, but one was labeled for the sale, and one wasn't. You grabbed one which wasn't labeled for sale, and ended up paying normal price. That may not be perfect from your perspective, but that's part of the rules under which Black Friday is operated. Discounts are given on a limited supply of very specific items, and if you don't get the specific item which is on sale, you don't get the discount.

So this is the story of your evening. You went to a sale and got a good deal on one thing, and paid normal price for another. I spent my thanksgiving dealing with people who throw fits because something rings up for fifty cents more than they thought it was supposed to. Incidentally, they are almost always wrong. You know what rarely makes mistakes? The computers which we use to ring stuff up. You know what constantly makes mistakes? Customers. You want to guess which one will assert they are right regardless of whether they actually are or not? I think you already know.

Again, zero sympathy. The real villain here. Black Friday itself and the people who continue to participate in such a blatantly ridiculous tradition even knowing the hell that it is for everyone involved. When are people going to figure out that you can get better deals online without showing up in a store and tormenting a cashier on Thanksgiving?

... I just wanted to eat turkey and mashed potatoes.

As someone who has spent holidays doing retail for ungrateful pricks before (though it's never been as bad as what you have to do), I want to say, I'm sorry your day had to suck so much doing that and dealing with people who are trying to kill each other over toaster ovens. I hope you have some left over turkey and mashed potatoes to comfort you.
