I ignored the hype of scribblenauts and I've gotta say it was worth it. Its an easy game, most of the levels are just 'go here' or 'bring object a to b'. Where most of the time you lure it with food. The real fun is trying to do it the hard way, since using the item designed for the challenge is no fun (baseball to hit bottle tower) playing with friends is even better.

Anyone here buy the game and think the immense hype ruined it for ya?

EDIT: totally called the penny arcade strip recently!

I have the most fun fooling around in my own levels, and fighting hordes of enemies. I loved the game.

If only that was the way it worked, Penny Arcade.

I love this game. I once solved a puzzle by turning all the NPCs into zombies and flamethrowing them to death. You make a single zombie, and move him about the room. Fun stuff.

I prefer puzzle levels over action levels, because between plays I can think of better ways to solve puzzles.

But I often find myself using certain tools in numerous situations, because they work. For example, Rope.

Also, I use a Zombie avatar. I hate the player character.

It's not out here yet... damn waiting. I want it now! I suppose I'll have to get the new Professor Layton game just to fill up the time till October.

I got Rom of it. I have to say it's awesome, but movement and some puzzles are sometimes annoying.

Why isn't it out here yet? I want it so bad. I'm willing to kill for. Mostly because I'm bored, and have nothing better to do.

From what I've read (i.e. the Official Nintendo Magazine review and Wikipedia), a ZP review would be incredibly predictable:

Great concept, lots of hype, why DS, flawed controls, Branston pickle.

I'll definitely try to pick it up, if only to convince myself to blow the dust off my DS.

I can play forever in the beginning place. The start menu. I have dinosaur fights, I have zombie outbreaks, Devil V.S God, I have dogfights, I bomb people, I kill ninjas, I have fun. And don't dismiss it as a kiddy game, it's great. Puzzles challenging, Action fun, great game.

It's a fun game. I didn't see any hype, so I can't be disappointed.

The puzzles are fun, as are the action levels, and the whole "Buying levels" thing works. Another thing that works is the DS controls. Sure, the walking sucks, but other than that the writing thing is good, and moving things with the stylus is good, if not nessasary. Speaking of the writing, that annoyed me. I write my letters top-down, so the game automatically things I'm writing something totally different. It can be annoying, but I adapted to special ways of writing so it would accept.

I play as Max because In think the avatars are shit, but whatever. The action levels can be hard, like the one with the frozen Starite, lava, and tripwire, one I'm stuck on, and the puzzles are just as fun.

Oh, give a kid a gun and throw a snowball at them, classic.

Edit: Oh, and I was disappointed that Yahtzee didn't do Scribblenauts this week.

It's not out in England, but I can tell it's overrated - nothing can possibly live up to that hype.
Scribblenauts does. I bought it when it first came out and I'm still discovering cool things to do with it.

Yeah. You will pick it up one day, think of something, and get sucked in for an hour. I've had it for, what, a week? And I can't put it down. When I get off I'm gonna play, I'm sure.

Greek myth tournament. Dinosaur war. Motocross. Tons of things to do in the start menu, all levels excluded.

The start screen alone would make one of the best games ever. It's very creative.

Oh yeah.

The puzzles are just like a stalker, following it's idol, the almighty Start Menu.

Oh, and I've just searched for hype, and the game lives up to every ounce and then some. It's like... It's like they just said "Here is a game. It's really pretty good. You can do a lot.", but what we got was really indescribably awesome. You can't say "Here's a game, you can have monster battles and shoot zombies and do anything! You gotta get this, you will love it, it's awesome!", because that's an understatement. I say Scribblenauts lived up to the hype, but the hype didn't live up to Scribblenauts.

Having a rom doesn't make you a pirate. I download roms so I don't have to change out my cartridges... although you're probably right... he's probably a pirate :(

Only problem I have with it is the controls, sometimes makes me run blindly to the other side of the level and try and brute force my way past regardless how many dinosaurs I've spawned.

That and sometimes people can't die, yet they are in your way, like the "Get the candy from the vending machine, but watch out for the bully." seriously, he should be allowed to die.

I dislike it for the same reason I disliked A Reckless Disregard for Gravity. That "unlock" level system just dosn't work for some types of games.

Also, the controls were terrible.
