I understand using the search bar to avoid making a thread that has already been recently done. I myself don't like to post in a thread if someone has already said the same thing I would say.

What I don't understand is why people need to say "search bar approved" in their threads. Isn't it enough to know yourself that you are making a new thread, is it really necessary to tell everyone else? Does anyone else notice this, or am I the only one?

Because there are some people that like to be mean people and rag on a poster for not using the search bar and then leave, therefore not contributing anything to the discussion.

So that when people say that the thread has been made before, the user has already stated that the search bar has been used, and just didn't turn up any results.

It's basically defending yourself before you are accused of anything.

Maybe they think it's funny or something. Either way, I think it's kinda a waste of time to say, but I do notice a few people do it every now and then.

Because basically, it matters so fucking much that your thread has been done before. WE CAN'T HAVE REPEATS YOU SEE.

FFS NO NEVER, YOU ARE NEVER THE ONLY ONE... /spasm over

Seriously I hate "Am I the only one" just as much if not more then people feel the need to announce that they used the search bar, do you announce every time you get a drink or snack? It's pointless and makes you look like a dick when you find out that you cant actually use the search bar because in fact there are 3 other threads active at the same time on the same topic.

A good example of this is when recently there was one(of many) Bioshock:infinite threads popped up and OP stated he had used the search bar except it was apparent he didn't even simply search "Bioshock:infinite" because there where loads of results on the main search page and even more on the search forum page.

Because its just a lazy way of saying "I USED THE SEARCH BAR! SO NO YELLING 'SEARCH BAR' TO ME!" even if they didn't use the search bar. Either way, it doesn't bother me much and I usually just read right over it without paying much attention to it.

Just so people don't ask about it I guess, I use the search bar just so the first 10 posts won't be, "This topic was done a month ago, use the search bar" I don't understand why they can't just ignore it. Unless it's one of the millions threads just saying, "Why is Half-Life 2 considered to be so amazing." That's one of the few threads that pop up often enough to actually get annoying.
