By this I mean you communicate with each other solely in your non-native languages.

Maybe you're Spanish and your girlfriend is Russian and you converse in English.

How's it working out? Communication problems? Have your language abilities improved?

Um..English is my second language, but I'm probably more fluent in it by now than Hungarian. Only communication problems I seem to have is quietness. She occasionally points out stuff I mispronounce, as well.

It really depends how both parties' comprehension of the 2nd language is. I know that I've tried to date a girl who in basic conversation seemed fine but the finer details began just were never able to cross over for anything besides friends.

I'm curious on how one even gets into a relationship with someone who speaks another language. You gotta have some mad game I would guess. I did date a girl from France once but that's because we both speak French and english.

I dated a girl from The Czech Republic for a few months. Obviously English was her second language so she spoke to me in English. Czech is hard to learn so I didn't actually try beyond a few words here and there.

I love foreign women, English girls are way too picky, spoiled, high-maintenance...

I once met a girl who spoke Irish as a first language and only a little English. It lasted all of 4 drunken hours.

We do, mostly, but Irish is our traditional language. Kind of like Welsh and Scottish.

Don't worry about it, I wasn't being overly serious.

Oh wait, I thought you were making a joke about her accent or something. I have some friends from Birmingham who certifiably cannot speak English, I'm sure Ireland has its fair share of incomprehensibles too.
