Good news everyone! Remember how we thought we were in the clear after that last oil well was capped off? Think again!

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/us_gulf_rig_explosion

NEW ORLEANS, La. ? The Coast Guard is saying that a mile-long oil sheen is spreading from the site off an offshore petroleum platform that exploded in the Gulf of Mexico off Louisiana.

The site of the explosion is west of where BP's massive spill occurred.

The Coast Guard said no one was killed Thursday in the explosion. The blast was spotted by a commercial helicopter flying over the site.

All 13 people aboard the rig were found floating in the water in survival gear.

Since the rig is conspicuously close to the first oil rig's location I'd like to quote a wise Asian man to express my feelings about this.

I smell Saba-tage..

-EDIT-
Crap, ninja'd while I was setting up my thread...oh well just disregard this one.

-EDIT..again-
Scratch that, it was search fail on my part.

For some reason this made me laugh. The Gulf is far enough away that it can't affect me.

[sub]Can it?[/sub]

Wow its like someone or something hates the Gulf and doing everything they can to ruin it.

My prays go to the people who live there. Time and time again they withstood through the disasters and rebuild. I have never seen such resilient people.

Yeah a thread was already posted up about this, apparently the Coast Guard said it wasn't a rig, but something else, can't remember what it was at this point in time, but that's going on what some one else said here...

I too smell something fishy...

Then that just makes it seem all the more suspicious. Nothing volatile being produced, yet it explodes anyway?

What would happen if BP built an oil rig inside a volcano?

I... I... I don't know, but one thing is certain. We shall find out.

If it's another BP oil rig, they must have the worst luck in the known universe, after the fish and fishermen who work in that area which has got fucked twice.

My first thoughts exactly. We now have a precedent to exterminate these crab people and feed the starving of the world at the same time.

Hey man, don't out our next plan to ruin the world because we can't accept the fact the Empire no longer exists. Shit, now you know our motive.

well considering the fact the BP has the means to pay up for the damage but the fishermen (and fish) are basically out of a job (and living space) I think they have it more bad then BP but that's just me.

Maybe I missed something in that report, but where does it say that it's a BP well? The report says its run by Houston-based Mariner Energy.

They did, however, mention BP a massive number of times in the report, but only in relation to the Deepwater Horizon balls-up.
