Secret Netflix Codes Unlock Incredibly Specific Movie Genres

In the mood for a "French Language Crime Comedy?" How 'bout a "Gritty Western from the 1950's?" These new Netflix codes will satisfy even the pickiest of moviegoers among us.

Netflix: We watch it, we discuss it at work, we use it as a cover for doing the dirty. But if there is one complaint we could register with the kings of the streaming service industry (or at least the princes [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/142447-Netflix-Ends-Partnership-With-Epix]), it's that their pre-selected categories tend to be a bit...vague. God forbid you happen to share an account with friends or family incapable of adding a separate profile (talking to you, Uncle Larry!), because the "Recommended" and "Because You Watched" sections will lose all meaning completely.

Even if you just happen to be in a very particular mood for, say, a suspenseful courtroom drama from the 1980's or a violent independent movie based on a book, then selecting from Netflix's pre-selected "drama" or "thriller" categories just won't cut it. Thankfully, [http://whatsonnetflix.com/netflix-hacks/the-netflix-id-bible-every-category-on-netflix/] have recently discovered a simple code than can help you access thousands of insanely specific categories -- a "Netflix ID Bible" if you will.

How does it work? Simple, you just fnd your genre of choice on this incredibly-detailed list [http://ogres-crypt.com/public/NetFlix-Streaming-Genres2.html], then type the corresponding number at the end of the following URL: http://www.netflix.com/browse/genre/XXXX (replacing the x's with your numbers, of course)

And just like that, you're watching "Children & Family Movies directed by Vic Finch." That's right, THE Vic Finch!

Finally, the hassle associated with binge-watching entire seasons of television from your couch has come to an end (and not to mention, the list of codes [https://ak-hdl.buzzfed.com/static/2015-09/15/13/enhanced/webdr01/anigif_enhanced-15801-1442336970-2.gif] and fear no more!

Allow me to rant a little. Just a little. Netflix UK, maybe international too, has an awful, God awful interface. Want to see a full list of movies and TV? Well hell no. Most shows are just reruns of BBC, ITV, and channel 4 and movie list is lacking. Maybe it's because Sky has a tight grip on movies but its bad. Good Netflix Originals, others are just a bit of a joke.

These are not secret codes, this is how URLs work. Each of these "codes" is just the URL identifier that appears when you search by Genre in Netflix. For example, the "83" code that brings up TV Shows is what the URL resolves to when you elect to browse TV shows from the main Netflix page.

It's because there's effectively no competition. Amazon nee Lovefilm has an interface at least as bad, and no-one else does any better. Of course, it's at least partly deliberate - if people could easily find things they actually want to watch, how would you be able to shove the things you want them to watch (because you make more money from them) down their throats?

Same in Germany. Probably also because of Sky. And GEMA, because it's always the GEMA.

That's why I laughed a little when I read this article.

I don't even care about their recommendations that much. What I find inexcusable is the lack of sorting options for Continue Watching and My List. I have over 50 things in My List but I don't know where it is because I have to just scroll and try to remember when I added them.
