Secret Perks in Fallout 3!? And interesting finds.

Well, I have just started fallout 3 again ass all my save files got wiped. I decided to play things out a little differently, and be relatively nice. I am trying to keep my karma at neutral-steal some things, kill some people, but still be pleasing enough to not arouse anger or anything in NPCs.

While playing, I have come across something I knew nothing about-secret perks!

You probably already know about them, but for those who don't-as far as I can tell, they're special perks you get for doing something extra in a mission, or greatly affecting the outcome of something. For instance-the perk I found was called "rad regeneration". It makes all your crippled limbs regenerate while you have critical rad poisoning. I got it by taking Moira's mission to gain rads, and getting above 600 rads.

I also know of one wherein you refuse from the very beginning to help Moira, and tell her her book is a bad idea. It is called "Dream Crusher" but I don't know what it does.

So, has anyone else found any secret perks? How do you get them? What do they do?

Also, I added another topic. Interesting finds.
For example different weapons, or special Items, or even bobblehead locations.

For the purposes of anyone that doesn't want to know, please put all interesting find information in spoiler tags.

One find I found (?) is the alien blaster. Simply awesome, but only 100 or so Ammo?

Dere.

Anyway, there is one for killing Harold by blowing up his heart, one for helping Lesko in THOSE!, and a couple of others.

Usually if you just do optional parts of missions, especially the Wasteland Survival Guide.

most people may have found these, i've found quite a few which i won't list here. 'Dream Crusher' lowers the chance of enemy critcal hits, i think.

EDIT: DAMN YOU, SPOON!! ya ninja'd me.

Dream crusher is good. But I will strive for the Survival expert perk, for completing the book.
Much more powerful. plus, I find the book's missions are the easiest way to get a feel for different locations and monsters in the wastes.

My friend got the one for helping Lesko-you get to pick between two is all he told me.

EDIT: I won't ask about blowing Harold's heart: Never heard of Harold, and didn't know you could explode hearts. Spoiler I will miss, I think. Thanks for the hint though-may come in handy.

This makes sense I guess. I just wish I had taken the time to find some medicine at the Super Duper Mart along with the food, but it was getting dark...

theirs a town called Grayditch that has a...fiery problem. basically if you don't remove the source and merely keep it contained, you get powerful resistance to fire.

their is a prototype vault somewhere in the wastes that if you activate its computer genetically changes you, increasing your protection from energy weapons.

also simply attempting to survive the hole in the Pitt toughens yourself against your enemies.

their are loads more, but i cant remember them

Interesting...so there are 3 perks available from the THOSE! quest. I will have to look out. I have the quest activated, just haven't got round to it.

I will also have to scour the wastes for that prototype vault.

Don't have any of the DLC yet. Will hopefully soon though. Especially broken Steen and it's increased level cap!!!! =D

May I suggest you buy the retail version of the DLC which has both Broken Steel and Point Lookout? I guarantee you will not regret it :)

Anyways, while I am fully aware of the perks from completing THOSE! and The Pitt, the Prototype Vault thingy doesn't seem to be from Fallout 3 :p

Actually, I looked it up and Prototype Vault is located in Texas, which, I am pretty sure, is not an area you can go to in Fallout 3 (no shit Sherlock).

HAHA lol. Either a retarded lie, or someone is serious. In which case, I pity them.

And yeh-I am buying Bioshock and Oblivion double pack soon, then as soon as I have the money, I will buy the F'out 3 DLC Discs.

First, I will buy Broken Steel and Point Lookout, then the disc with operation anchorage and the pitt. Then I will have no choice but to download Mothership Zeta, as this will not be released on Disc as far as I know. It will come to like £40. £30 for the Discs, and then near enough £10 for the download. Sigh. Worth it though, according to most people. I just want to extend F'out 3 as much as possible. I am in love with this game.

My favorite was always the one you get from Zimmer after telling him who the android is; it helps you in vats. Of course I always frag him with the android's own gun after he gives me the perk.

Lesko's perk is good too; there should have been more Quest related perks that affect SPECIAL. Harold's was supposed to add 1 to Endurance but they took that part of it out.

There are 7 extra perks when not doing the survival guide without the DLCs. Only one is not a reward for a friendly player, and that's Wired Reflexes.

Depending on how you respond, Moira will give you one of 15 possible perks for the survival guide, only 2 of them are actually worth getting and they require doing all optional objectives.(6% damage resist for the "tough" answer or 3% critical for insulting her when you finish another part of the book)

It's not even hard to get all the perks, just do exactly what quests say and complete the optional objectives all with the good option.

When you complete the "Wasteland Survival Guide" you get the Wasteland survivor perk that gives you Rad resistance and Poison resistance.

If you want the 6% damage resist, every time she asks how did this or that mission go, you have to give her the answer with either Strength or Endurance in brackets in front of it. If this option doesn't appear, it means one or the other isn't high enough. The way to get around this is to take some Buffout before talking to her, which works 90% of the time. The one time it doesn't work is if you do the Radation quest and decide to get 800+ radiation, which lowers a lot of your SPECIAL stats. In that case, you just have to have a really high Strength or Endurance stat before you go on that mission.

So, no, getting the 6% DR might be easy, but its not simple or straightforward.

Hehe, I am lucky then because so far I am on track for the 6% damage resist. I got the endurance option for the radiation mission. 600 RADS was the optional bit, and it didn't affect my endurance one bit.
