So, what does the Escaptist think of Section 8 [http://www.joinsection8.com/region-select/].?
Personally, I think it will be pretty fun. The SP looks kind of campy, but fun-campy, not bad campy. However, the MP looks like, if it actually does what they say, it will be a blast to play. The loadout options, the burning in.....it just looks so.....fun.
Sadly I think both the look and feel of the game are trying to be halo. Now for some people this may not be a bad thing, but to me it's a deal killer in and of itself. I mean really look at the gameplay trailers on youtube, it looks almost identical to halo 3. Even the armor and the weapons are very similar. Not too mention you apparently start out by dropping into the zones most of the game. Strangely the trailer on their site is completely generated using NURBS and isn't even indicative of the actual in game graphics.

Also it looks a bit like Halo.
You say that likes it's a bad thing.
Not exactly a bad thing, (despite my personal opinion halo is in fact insanely popular) but why not just market it as an expansion to halo, or some kind of off shot, instead of making another game that is almost exactly identical?
Seriously?
Games like that have a horrible history, they usually bust on to the market really strong but almost immediately lose support when people realize what's going on. The lightning never strikes twice, it just doesn't.
Ask any developer that's tried to mimic WoW's success. The original will almost always be the best and most loved by players. I understand the thinking behind doing things like this, because as Mirror's Edge showed us trying something new is risky. While it may not work though, at least you've expanded the possibilities. I have a lot more respect for games that generally failed in the view of most gamers,(once again reference Mirror's Edge)than I do for this copy paste kind of thing.
