Your in your home minding your own business, A serial murderer barges into your house. What do you do? Grab something to defend your self I would think. Fend them off before they get you. But the British government says no! The Police are a mere 10 minutes away hide I am sure you will be found and killed before then.

This thought came up when I heard about a woman in here house with a child, when a gang appears in here garden and proceeds to demolish her shed. She cannot do anything so she waves a knife from her kitchen window in an attempt to denture the gang it does not work. When the police finally come she gets questioned for holding an offensive weapon.

Is it just me or does that not sound right.

our government is retarded in this field of law! If someone enters your home, and tries to rob you, then you try to stop them with lets say... a baseball bat, then YOU would get in trouble for assault.

Are we supposed to just sit back and let them rob us? Because by the time the police get there, the thief would be LONG GONE.

I know if my house was ever robbed, then I would defend my self the best I could, regardless of what the government says. F*** the government.

She was only questioned, not arrested or anything. If a murderer broke into my house, especially if my little sister was present, then I would probably attack them out of sheer rage without even thinking about it.

I think self-defense is about the only thing I'm really conservative about. I believe that it's a persons right to defend their own home, and if there is threat of death involved, then they have the right to respond in kind.

Thinking about it, it's probably the only thing I'm really conservative about. Not because of "it's your property you have the right to make people fuck off," but that it's better for people to be allowed to take the situation into their own hands rather than cry to the police all the time. The police are great, and there should be a lot more of them used much more frequently, but you're not going to call the police and sit in a corner while people are trashing your house or chasing after you.

Praise Odin I live in Canada, where if there is a legitimate threat to your life you can defend yourself to the point of killing you attacker. Within limits of course.

The united states is better with this. You can kill someone if there is reason to think the person will murder/stab/rape/kidnap you. If it seems that you can get him without lethal force, you have to (doesn't mean you can't hurt him). If he is running away with your stuff, you cannot shoot him though.

Just that if somebody is in your house trying to kill you, and you have a gun (Which I do), that you should be able to stop them killing you without going to jail for murder or GBH. To me, this just seems like common sense, but I don't know.

If you have a gun and they don't surely you'd be able to stop them from killing you without killing them?

I'm not to keen on the laws in the UK with regards to protecting your own person and property. If a burglar enters my home it seems stupid not to do anything but call the police and wait for them to arrive while the burgular is making off with your plasma screen TV through the back-door.

The law can not be everywhere and i feel that, in the absence of police officers, citizens should be able to do what's necessary to protect themselves and their property.

I live in the states where if someone breaks into my house I can pull out a shotgun and either send them out running or in a bag.

I'm in Canada and its the same deal. If your dog bites someone who is robbing your house, they can sue you.

I think if someone breaks into your house they leave their human rights at the door. Unless you're gonna go Resivoir Dogs on them I beleive it's an acceptable response to home invasion.
