It's an NA release and digital-only, but a noble sentiment, I guess.Candidus said:As I understand it, the fear wasn't that it wouldn't be allowed in the west, but that XSEED was too wary-- especially in the wake of the complaints directed by certain critics at Vanillaware-- of a shitty critical response and resultant poor metascore/sales to offer it to the west.RyQ_TMC said:OT: Can I just ask what's so great about Senran Kagura that had people complaining that "it won't be allowed in the West" for the past few weeks? In JP, western critics have a (pretty well deserved) reputation for being anime-and-service-loathing whiners (a reputation earned for reviews of Neptunia, blogs about Dragon's Crown and sparse but noisy criticisms of the Atelier series).
Actually, westerners have a general reputation in JP for rejecting anything not comprised of one or more butch men carving up other butch men. And that reputation isn't benign; it has caused more than one studio to make pretty drastic changes to their games- just look at NA's disgusting fucking Nier.
Luckily, something has prompted XSEED to flip the haters- who knows what? I won't look a gift horse in the mouth, I'll just grab a 3DS and a few copies of the EU release to show my support.
That's all that has been announced at the moment, but I expect an EU release date will follow and that it'll be sometime in Q1 2014. If I'm wrong, I'll import it. I was planning to import Dragon's Crown when only the US release date was provided and nothing was being said about EU, so this'll be just the same.McMarbles said:It's an NA release and digital-only, but a noble sentiment, I guess.
Exactly! Of course, the gameplay seems to be the main thing that selling me at this point, in terms of actually buying it and showing it off to all of my friends (just like when I was the first to buy all of the US released Hyperdimension Neptunia games), but other than that...Keiichi Morisato said:boobs? IN 3D!? well sign me up then.
I thought it was a Japanese "side-scrolling boob-em-up brawler" that will get both an US release and then later an UK release...McMarbles said:Ahem... I believe the correect term for the genre is "side-scrolling boober."
This. Also, it seems Kotaku made a world record by bashing the game and the people who want it in the announcement.Candidus said:As I understand it, the fear wasn't that it wouldn't be allowed in the west, but that XSEED was too wary-- especially in the wake of the complaints directed by certain critics at Vanillaware-- of a shitty critical response and resultant poor metascore/sales to offer it to the west.RyQ_TMC said:OT: Can I just ask what's so great about Senran Kagura that had people complaining that "it won't be allowed in the West" for the past few weeks? Yeah, this is pretty much what I'm thinking. It's like, why would I pay for this... when there are so many h-games -exactly- like this, but also better and free? And I don't even play -those- anymore.Mr.K. said:I do like how all the videos on this game have the word Burst in them.
Well if I was 15 and had no internet then this would be a definite buy, but with free porn all around that just isn't happening anymore.
What's his handle? I wanna follow him.OtherSideofSky said:Oh, hey, I remember that thing. I got the first one on sale when I was in Japan because I needed something to play on the train and nothing else even potentially worth playing was in stock. It was a fairly decent brawler to kill time with, although more enemy and stage variety would have made it a lot better. I recall the story being inadvertently hilarious because it kept trying to have fairly grim ninja drama in the middle of all the brightly colored anime tits.
I probably won't buy the English release, but the fact that it's actually happening is silly enough to keep me giggling all day.
Anyway, the dude who made it has a hilarious Twitter, and would probably appreciate the phrase 'breast 'em up.'
