Sensing Lack of Awards Shows, MTV Networks Launch Comedy Awards

To be fair, they know nothing about music either.

OT: Does anyone actually care? I can't remember the last time I watched any awards show. I'm calling a pre-emptive tank on this.

Seth MacFarlane on the board of directors? I'm sorry, but none of his shows have managed to even entertain me, much less make me laugh, since Family Guy came back on the air. In fact, last time I watched one of the newer episodes of Family Guy, I felt like Seth MacFarlane slapped me in the face.

This inclusion on the Board of Directors alone is enough to make me call bullshit. In fact, I will go ahead and say this awards show will make the likes of Mitch Hedberg, George Carlin, and Bill Hicks roll in their fucking graves!

It's a list of well knowns, the title of Board of Directors really just ennobles what is a meaningless committee. They probably just recieve a form with a list and make their picks. Unfortunately too many people think retarded and non-sensical is the same as funny, Bill has been spinning for about 14 years as it is.

This has the potential to be one of the worst ideas ever, at very least it should sit among the top of the list of bad ideas. I figured Comedy Central for this, but MTV, BLECH!

As far as Dane Cook is concerned, I think he is funny. On the other hand, he would have had to have done something to warrant an award. This is obviously going to be annual thing.

In the End, it doesn't even matter that they don't know about comedy, they certainly know sales I think.

One final thought for everyone. There is a lot of different kinds of comedy out there, just because you don't find all of them particularly funny doesn't mean there aren't lots of people who enjoy them. I like Dane Cook and the the works of Seth MacFarlane, I don't care one bit for Billy Crystal though, his acting or his stand up. I also hate Jerry Seinfeld stand up. I'm just illustrating my point here. One man's opinion.
