Sensitivity Inferiority Complex

I'm a default-sensitivity player when it comes to console gaming. I just can't shoot accurately at high sensitivity, so I almost always use default. But lately I've noticed that many others can handle better sensitivity. Really great gamers always seem to use it, and I recently found out that my guests playing Reach with me get 3 sensitivity by default while I was using 1. (Apparently I turned my sensitivity down in that game and never turned it back up.) I also found out I was using 3 sensitivity back on Halo 3, so I changed my Reach sensitivity to 3 because I felt like I had lost my ability to handle even a default sensitivity. So far I'm still good at Reach, but then along came Battlefield 3.

BF3's default sensitivity seems to be higher than that of Bad Company 2. It seems like people in BF3 can shoot me from a distance before I can even get my sights exactly on them. This may be more because they're camouflaged well, but it could also be because they can handle a sensitivity I can't. I did notice I seem to be a bit less accurate in BF3 than I am in Bad Company 2. My aiming so far isn't as precise as I'd like it, but I feel really inadequate if I can't even handle BF3's default sensitivity.

And then of course there's always the issue of being shot in the back and not being able to turn around fast enough. If I turn my sensitivity down, I'll have to deal with that a lot more. Me and my first world problems eh? I'm trying to survive well enough in a war video game, and meanwhile there are child soldiers in Africa trying to survive the same thing for real.

Should I turn my sensitivity down, or should I keep it at default and try to improve? Does anybody else find it hard to play at higher sensitivities?

I generally play on the higher sensitivities, like about the 7 or 8's, anything higher causes me to start playing badly. Really I'd say just try get used to a sensitivity of about 5 or a little higher on the single player portion before you attempt it online

Just practice. Higher sensitivities can be hard to get used to, but the ability to aim and turn faster is a pretty big advantage. Play through campaign mode or something to get accustomed to it before going up against humans.

It's dangerous to go alone, take this. High DPI and med/low sensitivity is how I roll. (I think)

Seriously, with a mouse aiming issues like what you have become a thing of the past, only player skill matters then not "I couldn't turn fast enough".
But... I'm playing on a console.

On console, IMO it's better to play on a lower sensitivity to take better advantage of the auto-aim. I know that having a slightly lower than default sensitivity for halo will probably make you more accurate, while sacrificing the ability to turn around faster in reaction to anything going wrong.

You'll get better at the game if you play at higher sensitivities. If you play high difficulty settings of some games they can be literally impossible to beat without high sensitivity (e.g. not enough time to switch targets). Playing games like that taught me the value of getting comfortable with a higher sensitivity.

I'm a PC gamer, but whatever. I play on a very low sensitivity, high DPI and I use a very large mousepad. I can turn around as quickly as anyone using a high sensitivity without sacrificing any accuracy.
