What sequel have you seen that made the original look bad?
I like Transformers 1 for it's effects and action, but Transformers 2 made it all look bad. Now I can't enjoy it as much.
Note: You had to have liked or at least thought the original was okay.

I would answer with "The Matrix," as I think if there were sequels they would have been horrid.
I'm so glad there were no sequels

Hostel

I liked the first one a lot and I liked its ending but the second one ruined the first.

What I liked about the first one was that the guy gets his revenge and gets away then in the second, they bring back his story and kill him off for no reason then go off on the story with those girls

Now, I can't enjoy the first one.

I can't think of a single one. As far as I'm concerned, if film/game/book was good on release, it's still good now.

Hell, even the Star Wars Prequels, which for all rights should have spoiled it, didn't spoil the original trilogy for me.
Pretty much this. I can't even associate Hayden Christiansen with the actual Darth Vader; it just doesn't click. You shouldn't let crappy installments of a series retroactively ruin something you love.

Kingdom Hearts.

After completing a game, you generally have a sense of hollow achievement, a wispy satisfaction, or a burning desire to finish up that paperwork due tomorrow because you lost track of time.

I finished Kingdom Hearts 2 and sat there, sorrowfully shaking my head, feeling like Nomura just shot me in the dick.

I concur.

So does Tarantino.

Skip to 2:54 for the relevant part if you can't be bothered watching the whole thing.

Majora's Mask was so awesome Ocarina of Time seems like such a downgrade to it. Ooooh I'm a blasphemer for liking another Zelda game more than OoT.

I've actually only seen the original Matrix - and judging from people's reactions, I'm guessing that's a good thing.

I'm kinda scared Iron Man 2 might kill the original, and from what I've heard it's a mixed bag. D:

For games, I'd say Shadow Hearts: From the New World. So bad, it wasn't even funny.

There were no prequels, remember? we took you to that clinic ... look just don't make me go all 1984's big brother on you

There was however an entertaining animated series done by the creators of megas XLR and samurai jack on the clone wars

I really enjoyed iron man 2, certainly doesnt top the original but just as good, also helps that i was stoked by all the avengers references and set up, my best advice, dont go into it looking for the best film ever but just a fun comic book film... and iron man! woo! hehe

as for me im gonna go with the jurassic park sequals, they were unnecessary and soiled what was a great original in my opinion

Oh yes, there was no prequels. How silly of me.

Back to my medication.
Don't forget Black is White Big Brother is watching you!

Supreme Commander 2 is meh and simplesauce compared to the iron cook masterclass that was the original

There have been countless games where the sequel was so much of an improvement that the original is unplayable after playing them, but I don't think that was the point of this topic.

I can't think of any where the sequel was so bad that it ruined the original.

I really wouldn't call them prequels when they where written first. There are nine episodes and who ever made the movies thought it would be an awesome idea to start in the middle.

I liked Dead to Rights 1, but thanks to the second one I could never look at that game the same way again. It completely ruined my trust. I'm REALLY scared to rent Dead to Rights: Retribution because of what the second one did to me.
