Sequels that seem more like Expansion packs

I was waiting for someone to say this.

MW2 was a completely revamped engine with a nearly completely revamped perk system in Multiplayer.

Try something original.

OT: All the Half life Episode 2 games.

Sure, they were fun.

But in reality, it was the near exact same environment with the exact same enemies and the exact same story line.

Doom II is the longest expansion pack I've ever played. One new weapon, a handful of new enemies, and pretty much the same textures.

sort of true, but you can't deny it's vastly superior to the original one =P

Castlevania 64 and Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness. i know it was back in the day but it was the first one that made me really go WHY DID I NEED TO BUY THE SAME GAME 2 TIME!!!

Halo 3. There was no point to making that instead of combining Halo 2 with it. I was all kinds of pissed on that day I beat it. (The first day I GOT the damn thing!)

Apart from getting bored with around level 16, it was.

But I think it was a case of my enjoying the episode structure of the first one much more. Until stories got a *lot* better, I enjoyed starting from zero every eight levels or so.

honestly, I thought the soundtrack is WAAAY better in Doom 2

but then again, I got Doom 2 before the original Doom, so yeah =P

Wouldn't that mean making halo 2 on 360, then adding on forge, theater and another campaign onto that? A start from scratch would make alot more sense then an expansion to a game on an outdated console.

OT: Pokemon games. The core gameplay doesn't change but they just stick more stuff in it, like an expansion pack. Nothing really bad with it, that's just how it feels to me.
