I though Manhunt already was that.
You were a guy trying to survive weren't you? Not necessarily killing to get your boner bouncing.

I would like to play a game that makes me utterly uncomfortable with my actions. It happens so rarely that I'm disappointed.

I like a game where when I kill someone on accident I feel bad. There are various old games where I'd collaterally kill someone I really liked character wise and get really emo about it.

I love tying in emotions with video games, when done properly it is such an invigorating experience. It really shines in showing how games can truly be a form of powerful art.

Likewise...FFS people could we not use the term serial killer so loosely.

I realize by definition if you serially kill folks (IE a soldier) you are a serial killer...but I don't think that is what folks mean when they use the term :p.

I think it's fantastic idea.

However it would be nearly impossible to find someone that would publish it, so you'd have to release by download or something.

The media would have a field day.
Yes. This is a monumentally bad idea. Unless it was some kind of metagame, where there was no way to actually win, and all scenarios end with you losing either by law enforcement or vigilante justice.

Holy shit. What if, at the end, Batman inevitably shows up and kicks your ass? Okay nevermind. Let's make this game.

Well, there are rumors that EA is going to make a game based on Jack the Ripper, where he's the protagonist. But they're going to put a spin on it where his victims are actually undead and demon-possessed, or something. So I guess technically it won't be a game about a serial killer.

They actually HAVE made a Dexter GAME y'know...
I don't want a Dexter game. I was just using dexter as a reference. Dexter game implies only killing baddies. Maybe i want to kill a mother and then her daughter. Im pretty sure that a Dexter game wouldn't allow you to do that.

And you could win the game. Maybe after 20 years of killing people you decide to retire from killing and are never caught? Or maybe you just try to set personal or game records of number of people killed in a certain time without being caught, etc.

That actually sounds kinda fun, but you know Hillary Clinton and those other Anti-Game-Violence people would just have SO much fun with it.

The problem is no matter how much crazy shit is in gaming, the media will only pick up on things that have happened in real life like some stuff in GTA; drugs, car-stealing and whatnot, but they only really pick on games then (or when they are so gory it's stupid), and not when say you have stylized midget psychos that you murder (I just saw a video of borderlands :D). That Jack the Ripper game is going to be in the same vein of the rip-off of Dante's Inferno, freaky over-the-top action against demons where the ripper was actually a good guy who... eh.. I hate that shitty idea but anyway, there have been so many infamous serial killers that the media and people who knew the victims and just everyone will completely freak at the idea of a game being made about serial murdering (especially if you want to murder families or something, wtf with that?) Personally I think the detective style gameplay making you think combined with the murdering is awesomely cool, but the only way it could exist is if it was like a revenge plot or something. :/

Fox news would run a special on this, no doubt about it!. Then there are all those people that say games promote violence so this would really give them something to throw back at us.

What about Fallout 3 as an evil character? You can kill at least 1000 people every level 30 character you have.

But aren't Manhunt and Postal fully serial killer games?

OP or anyone who thinks that this is an amazing idea; you have issues and need to seek help.
If you're going to promote a game where you kill innocents at random, then you might as well jump on the rape simulator bandwagon too.

Jesus, people.
Well you could say that about almost every game out there. I mean what are all the GTA games? I mean half the fun is running over random people on the way to the objective. And every mmo ever made involves the mass murder of certain groups of people or animals. I mean if that isnt sanctioned genocide then i don't know what is.
