Oh, yes that was a lovely cryosleep. This certainly seems like a respectable establishment. I suppose I shall find all manner of useless trinkets to cater to the demands of the darling children when I return from my marvelous trip to deep space.

The sun was setting behind Mars on the state-of-the-art space station as it rotated lazily about its axis. The red planet could be seen through the starboard windows, the surface still mysterious and mostly unexplored. Several of the patrons were wandering around the luxurious facilities, browsing the various stores, relaxing in the pools or even just gazing out into the vastness of space. Strangely though there were very few staff in sight, and the ones that were were all robotic. Automated vendors and staff were common place these days of course, but there was always at least some humans around as well to maintain and assist them.
"Good evening ladies and gentlemen. If you would care to look out the Aries side windows, you can see the glorious sunset behind the planet surface. It is quite a majestic sight indeed."
As the last few rays of sunlight disappeared behind the planet, the station was plunged into darkness. It wasn't just the natural light that disappeared however, all of the stations lighting blinked out as well. Several seconds later the emergency systems kicked in and backup lights lit up the station in a perpetual gloom. The robotic staff had lost all power, standing there immobile and unresponsive. The friendly female voice that had been speaking over the PA system only moments before was ominously silent, they had vanished without a trace.
In the darkest corner of the station, something murderous stirred....
