Serious Backlogging

I'm not a huge fan of MMOs, but I actually find myself looking forward to the new TES MMO. The only TES game I've ever gotten the chance to really play is Skyrim, but by the urging of my friends I am planning on going back and playing Morrowind and Oblivion. What I'm debating is going to play Arena and Daggerfall. Should I?

I'm intimidated by Daggerfall because of its sheer immensity (Supposedly half the size of Britain) and I hear Arena's combat is almost unplayable, especially in the beginning.

If the age doesn't concern you, I'd say go for Daggerfall. I've played it and I loved it. I haven't played Arena, though, so I can't say exactly how unplayable it is.

I've played all of the main series games except Skyrim (computer's too old to play that one), and I can vouch that Daggerfall is worth playing. Arena is definitely optional; you may enjoy it, you may not, because it's a very different game than the rest of the series. Daggerfall and Morrowind were the high points of the series, so definitely play Daggerfall, and also give Morrowind a chance if you can find it cheap.

P.S.: The combat in Arena wasn't bad per se, it's just that Arena, Daggerfall, and Morrowind were more like turn based RPGs than action RPGs; you just couldn't pause between the turns.
