not that bad really... I mean every one needs a hobby and this kid obviously likes to be ingenuitive and use every day items to make something with a function. the fact that they are weapons and not... I dunno, gum ball dispensers? are probably because the concept of weapons are easy to grasp and let's him work for a simple functionality for his "inventions"

Creativity!

How is this a bad thing? It's not as though he just pissed in your cornflakes, he's just making some of the things that the male mind is naturally fixated on out of everyday objects.

Also, it's a little harsh to generalise "today's youth" in one blanket phrase...

...I'd say that people could get hurt but that wouldn't be helping at all, would it? =P

When I was in high school I built a flamethrower. I owned daggers and swords and my mother gave me a crossbow for my birthday. None have been used on people. [sub] yet [/sub]

I see nothing wrong with what he made.. I can find many faults with today's generation just as I can find with mine or that one before me. Kids didn't change. Your perception of them did.

HAHAHA!
I think he's pretty creative. Until of course he goes out stabbing someone with his creation, which all of todays youth does.

Look out, folks!

Yeah kids these days. Why back in my day kids made weapons out of forked sticks, ball bearings, a piece of cloth and a rubber band.

I don't find that disturbing.

Just a few days ago, I used nail-acrylic to create a sharp tip on a pen I had lying around. I just felt like making a discreet weapon.
I also have a sword(sharp, naturally) that I've made myself. Hammered out and sharpened an iron rod(sort of).
I have a dagger that I made the handle and sheath for myself. I bought the blade though. I have one more dagger blade, and two regular knife blades, all of which I intend to make handles for at some point.

In addition, I have four bows of varying strengths, one of which I made myself, supplied with sharp arrows.

Edit: I just noticed the toilet paper roll with balloon he'd made. That one's a classic. I've made sooo many of those over the years. They're surprisingly accurate.

I'll edit the pictures in here when I can get facebook working >:[
Okay, I give up. Fuck you Facebook. Fuck you.
Okay, what the hell Facebook? I can't embed images I've uploaded to you now?
Fuck you!
Finally figured out a way

You know back in my day Kids would just hang around on street corners, drinking cider and shouting abuse. Now they are making weapons, at least it keeps them off the street, thats what I say.

Youth has always been deemed unsastifactory by the older generation. Look at the flapper culture of the 20s. The hippy culture of the 60s and 70s. The punk culture of the 70s and 80s. Goths of the 90s. Rockers of the 70s-90s. There's plenty more examples of this through history. Granted all of these examples(except maybe flappers) were technically the counterculture of the time. Though that actually brings me to my next point, the people complaining about the youth of today tend to focus on those pockets of undesirables, and leave out the fact that most kids are completely normal.

"Seriously, today's youth?"

Congratulations, you've turned into your parents/grandparents.

This kid is just creative, I used to do stuff like this when I was a kid too.

However:

"Ok, first off is a Spear Gun..."

No. That's a crossbow.

Really? I don't see anything wrong with this. When I was a kid me and all my friends had rifles and would go squirrel hunting. Who cares if he's got a toothpick shooter. Heck I remember being 17 and using a Hell-Fire trigger system I mounted on an AK. I guess it just has to do with your prospective, maturity level and above all, a safety conscience state of mind.

I don't know if any other 92's have he same feeling...

But i feel that right after 93' people were different.
When i was 15 -16 we had a normal and healthy lifestyle, but when i got to 18 the 15 - 16 year olds were much different.
It was such an sudden change.

I'm not "old" in that sense, i drink and party just as much as the next guy.
But i feel that "they" are so much more extreme.

Go back a couple of hundred years and he'd be in the army, killing people.

I think "todays youth" are alright.
Go to a local middle school and count how many times you hear the word "Gay"

Then you see why.

I think youth today is both getting:
Even more Stupid
Forgetful

Maybe They're just jealous they didn't think of it first?
I don't know what to say. Yeah, some of us teens are bad, but teens have been doing stupid things since the dawn of time. That's what Youtube is for...

Opinions on this? I think this is creepy, thank goodness I'm a kind person
I'm always baffled how people can think this sort of stuff didn't happen before Youtube came around.

Modern generations are being exposed to more information than ever in the course of history. And most kids who say the word "Gay" actually got that from previous generations' homophobia. I'd say we've reached vast improvements in terms of tolerance.

Wow, there are a lot of weird topics on the Escapist today....

What's disturbing about this? I think he's pretty creative. Plus we don't have "KIDS" doing this, and we certainly don't have evidence about the state of "today's youth" on display here, we have one kid. Good Christ, you sound like Fox News.
My thoughts exactly.

THAT is the kind of person who will survive the apocalypse my fellow escapists.
from a youths perspective I would say that the kids of today have not gotten any worse except for the few trouble makers though I find that many of my friends have limited cussing vocabularies.

"I see no hope for the future of our people if they are dependent on the frivolous youth of today, for certainly all youth are reckless beyond words. When I was a boy, we were taught to be discrete and respectful of elders, but the present youth are exceedingly wise and impatient of restraint." -Hesiod

Being convinced that THIS is the generation that is going to ruin the world forever is older than dirt. Literally.
