I saw ICO once, but it was $50 used. This was just last year.

I put it down and said "No way am I paying that much".

Still haven't found another copy though.
you think THATS bad? Ico at my local second-hand game store costed $80, Odin Sphere was $70, and a copy of Final Fantasy 7 was $100. on top of that every Generation 3 Pokemon game on the GBA was $70. I has won Internet.

Have you ever had a moment where you saw something you wanted but it was way out of price range?
Sure. All the time. When I walked to the mall back when I lived in Saskatoon I had to pass a Challenger dealership. Every time I walked past those cars I wanted one. I reeeeally wanted one. But I could barely afford good toilet paper, let alone a car.

Why is Super Mario Galxy and Super Smash Bros Brawl still so expensive? Thats annoys me, especially as the Galaxy sequel is out
First Party developed games always take longer to come down in price. Anything from Nintendo, Microsoft Game Studios, or SCEA always takes a long time to come down in price. EG, Halo 3, Xbox Platinum Hit, but still $30.

Pretty much any television series is too expensive for my tastes. I'll drop 20 bucks on them, but alot of the good series are hitting 60 bucks.

I suppose a Wii is out of my price range, though it don't really really crave it. I'd just like a few of the continuations of the first-party installments I grew up on (Mario, Metroid, you know the bunch).

Why does a book cost $20 but a signed copy of the author is $1000? Well maybe because it's harder to find (rarer) than just a normal one. I think the same goes for this.

NZ. Everything is overpriced. Everything
You don't say. The average game here is about $80 NZ... I think that's about $60 US.

The solution, MOVE TO SINGAPORE! Man, do I want to do that.

I used to sale copies of various 'rare' Atlus games for double or more their actual value.

People will spend crazy amounts of money on something if they:
A) Have the money
B) Are convinced it's a good buy
c) Are convinced it's 'rare'
&
D) Can't/are to stupid find it anywhere else

Personally, I still don't see how MvC2 is so expensive.
I own three versions of it (DC/PS2/Xbox) but I never played over 20USD for them, yet I see the games (all the time) at 40-80+USD.

W-T-F?
Totally insane.

£200 for the PS1 game Tombi...
Sure, it was a good game, and I enjoyed the second one, but £200 for a single game for the PS1? Not even in new condition?
...

An album from Maximum the Hormone costs 45 fucking dollars, because it has to be imported. Forty fucking five.

One of their singles costs 16. For one fucking song!

What the fuck, Amazon?

All of the aforementioned items would be absolute bargains in Australia.

True story.

Edit: Except for the $200 ones. Bloody hell.

I got a Maximum the Hormone album for my birthday from my sister :) - so happy.

Then my room-mate used it as a fucking coaster.

Still works, but the middle of Shimi skips. Really not pleased bout that.

EDIT: Oh yeah, the topic - sorry >.<

Closest I've gotten recently was a Sega Mega Drive for £110 (yeah, when Steam is selling all the best Sega games for just over a pound...), and a book on the Cultural History of Tarot which cost something like £50 - but then again, it is one of those academic-type studies of the subject, so it's pretty exhaustive and very interesting - actually, I recommend it even at that price, so that one doesn't fit the topic at all.

£110 was a bit steep for the SMD tho. Jesus. It's going to end up as an 'ironic' doorstop, I just know it.

Ouch. That's why I put my music on my computer as soon as I can.

At least you still got the rest of it...
