So... SEX! What's the big deal? I used to live in Minnesota and realised how uptight everybody is around the topic, which stops parents from talking with their children about it. I don't get it. Germany is pretty easy around it and look at the charts, it has a very low teen pregnancy rate and an even lower abortion rate.
So basicly my question is, Why are people uptight around the most basic instinct of human life? Does the escapist have a strict policy on this subject?
Also, for extra credits, at what age did you lose your virginity?

The US seems unusually strict when it comes to sex, especially in the media. It's odd, but then again, we glorify violence to the Nth degree. I don't get it.

I suppose it really depends on the region where you live and their cultures. I've been to places of the US where people are very lax about it while others are very uptight.

I was 21.

I'm pretty sure people just want to keep things sacred, rather then uptight. While the miracle of life is very...miraculous, you're at a definite loss of character if you go overboard without the child's support.

As a strict policy? Dealing that a few here are underaged, I imagine it'd be a touchy subject. ...You're on the internet - yes, though there's that sacred thing again...

I think society has a problem with 'sexualization' rather than the process itself.

As for the bonus question, fifteen.

But what do I know?

Question one, because many older people react, well, oddly, to sexualization.

As for virginity, still have it and don't care if I lose it or not. Because sex and nudity have never "done" it for me, only certain fetishes will work.

Yay for being weird, I guess.

Personally, I was raised (In Australia, both parents are British) in a household where sex was never taboo. In fact very little was taboo in our house.

Come to think of it there's nothing I couldn't/can't talk about with my parents.

When I was younger my parents obviously sheltered me from some things, I didn't really hear about drugs until the summer before highschool when my parents explained that "Not taking candy from strangers" wouldn't cut it any more.

I knew how and where babies came from at about... since my earliest memories, before my little sister was born.

I wasn't, however, allowed any toy guns until I was about 10 and even then I only got one because I complained that all of my friends had them.

I was allowed to watch sex scenes in movies but had to cover my ears and close my eyes in violent parts/my parents fast forwarded. They also watched any movie above a PG rating before letting me see it. They also paused and discussed things with me that don't make sence to a child (Cheating, revenge, jelousy, sub-textual elements, sexual tension etc.)

Come to think of it I had a pretty conciensous up bringing.

But to me, there's never been a big deal about sex, just that it's personal - a gentleman doesn't discuss it in inapproprtiate company. (Grandparents, girlfriends dad/brother etc.)

Also, bonus question; 15 a few months before my 16th birthday.

Where I live everybody treats sex the same way they treat drinking....

That's not a good thing is it?

Bonus question: 15

I know I'm going to hate myself for this, but may I ask what kind of fetishes are we talking about.

People react to it depending on the circumstances at hand.

But, it's also because of the religious aspects as well.

I don't really speak to anybody about the topic overall here, but sex ed lessons were over in a flash in my schools, we never had long discussions or anything like that in class, it was just a 20 minute video, and that was that.

Bonus question: 16.

So it's okay to screw little boys, But not okay to have a healthy relationship with the opposite/(same) sex?

I've never met anyone in my age group who has a problem discussing it really although I try to avoid putting in alot of personal details, I like to keep some things private.

Although I'm all for fully educating children on sex I think some people are pushing for it to happen at too early an age.

Also, 17.

Not in that aspect, more the way people talk about it.

Like if it was a little child, they'd make it more suttle.

If it was a say 13/14 there wouldn't be too much hesitation on what's said.

Good question would be "When WILL you lose your virginity?" I think a lot of people would like a clear answer to that one.
What do I look like, Nostradamus?
That might explain the virginity.
