Sexist gaming moments (that's sexist not sexiest)

Stereotyping female characters as tough bitches in order to appease any perceived sexism is still sexist.

Agreed. That type of thinking is akin to the whole 'noble savage' thing that still exists whenever an Aboriginal Person appears in a movie. It's also occasionally present in 'magic Negro' movies (i.e. Legend of Bagger Vance, Green Mile).

In Gothic, there were only 3 or 4 women and they were all slaves dancing, cleaning. You couldn't even talk to them, they said ''Shhh. Your not allowed to talk to us!'' And there was even supposed to be a nude chick.

Well, the world of Gothic was being run by those factions, many of whom seemed like the kinds of guys to do that. And the only reason there are women in there at all is because they are part of the demands made but the guys who took over the colony, and are used as exchanges for the ores they mine.

On Topic:

Every popular fighting game. All you really have to do is look at the rosters. The only one out there that I think treats women with even a little bit of respect is Street Fighter, just because most of their women are fully-clothed and can beat your ass old-school.

Oh, and games like Bayonetta (on the first page of a Google search there's an over-sexed pinup of the main character for God's sake!).

Being female I feel that I should be outraged by every sexist thing in gaming.

...I'm not.

Okay, why do we female always end up as the sidekick? The majority of games have a female sidekick, where's the male sidekick to the female lead?
Honestly, it doesn't really bother me.

Women are NOT an item gaming wise, i.e. games where you marry, etc. Or at least, they shouldn't be.
But hey, men what do you think of us as? Other than pleasure objects? ;)
(note my sarcasm)
To be honest, I'm surpirsed you're not really outraged by it; especially all the groan-induding fanservice most women in games seem to end up becoming. Yes, I'm a guy who dislikes fanservice.

I wish games had more strong female leads like Metroid (I'm pretending the 'zero suit' doesn't exist... Okay, it's sorta justified considering there needs to be some sort of neurological interface between her Varia Suit and her, but that's beside the point.). And I mean strong, not like the main character in Wet who seems to, as Yahtzee has stated, 'being strong and independent with being a *****.'

And even if they weren't leads, I'd still prefer to see real characters, like that demonstrated by Alex Vance in half-Life 2.

Don't even get me started on Lara Croft, by the way. Her games are already piles of crap on their own; the fan service exhibited by the character pretty much makes my eyes roll straight out of my skull from the sheer contempt of it.

I sappose there is sexist aspects in some games adn the industry should stop these sorts of things. Maybe games should have more pick you gender/ character features. Then again they normally tear away the personality of the charcter since most games have a silent protagonist as a male or female.

Sure, there's sexism in games, but there's sexism everywhere. If you're offended by the bow in Mrs. Pac-Man's hair, then I have a reasonable suspicion that you are an agoraphobic (look it up) if you haven't seen a hell of a lot worse everywhere else. The best thing to do is to sit down, shut up, and enjoy the damn game.

What does annoy me is the whole MOST GAMERS ARE MALE.
WHY are the majority of gamers male?
Here's a statement I take issue with, because I find it sort of ambiguous. Do you mean that you want males to start leaving or stop taking up gaming to even out the numbers, or do you want more females to start taking up gaming? Because if the latter is the case, then the gaming industry agrees with you, 100 percent, I'd have to imagine that if they weren't reliant on the worst of my fellow men to boost sales then games like Dead or Alive (this includes the beach one, the fuck is with that?) or Ninja Gaiden or Wet (you really shouldn't have used Wet's main protagonist as an example of a strong woman, why not Alyx Vance, she's a sidekick character but at least she's pretty useful in a firefight, she does get captured but at least she doesn't turn all damsel in distress over it, but I digress) wouldn't exist and they could spend time on gameplay as opposed to breast physics. There would be much rejoicing, except if frat houses but who cares what they think (frat house thinks? more of an oxymoron if you ask me)

As for why, you have to remember that the original gamers were mainly your Dungeons and Dragons type nerds, like yours truly, and were mainly male, so of course we made up almost the entire gamer demographic, and things evolved around that.
