I am a 16 year old male. This means that, by all pattern recognition, I should want to sleep with everything that moves. However, I honestly do not find sex to be very important.

Now, this is not to say that I am asexual. There are people that I am very attracted to. However, I do not seek out sex. I seek out relationships, I seek out emotional attachment, but I've never been a person to seek out sex. I just do not view it as being at all important compared to well, most other things in life. I am not opposed to it, and its not like I never feel aroused. I just place very little importance on sex and no importance on seeking it out.

I was just wondering if there is anyone on here with a similar indifference towards sex, and, if anyone knows, if there is a name for a sexually indifferent, but not anti-sex, view.

If you do not have a similar view, post your views on sex.

Do you sir have a vagina? No i am just teasing. That perfectly understandable in my earlier years of being a teenager all i did was lust and had quite a few women but as i got older i spent most of my sexual energy and did a lot of the most fucked up things under the sun but i wanted companionship eventualy more than anything..... and if the sex was great thats a bouns lol

There's plenty of people like that; I'm like that myself, actually.

Sex, to me, is simply a secondary goal. Sure, I want to have it, but I don't care to have it as much as I'd prefer to get a real relationship. I want something long term, something real, and if that makes me 'weird' then I'd rather be weird; I like the weird better, anyway.

Demisexuality, perhaps?

That sounds like what you're describing... but I'm not an expert.

I'm about exactly the same, I want emotional attachment before anything else. I engage in slow moving, long term relationships. Companionship is more important to me than having sex.

I'm asexual.

I'm a jaded misanthrope with a large portfolio of bad experiences and no chance in hell of finding anyone who fits my criteria. Since coming to realise this, I've grown less and less sexual the more and more I down a bottle of wine.

I've never been happier.

I get the same thing, completely indifferent. Sex is nice, but not the biggest imperative.

You've just got a low sex drive and I don't think there's a specific name for it.

HAHAHA I think that is more normal than myself, I'm 19 years old and I've never have felt the need to have sex or even a social relationship, but that might be as my brothers say I'm just weird.

After reading up on it just a bit I don't think I'm quite that, as I do see certain people as attractive that I'm not involved with, I just don't have desire to have sex with them, and I do actively seek out emotional relationships, just not sex. I do seem to have a lot of the characteristics of demisexuality though.

I want to somehow answer this thread without giving too much information. Ha. But, I find myself very, very horny these days. I blame the fact that I'm 16... darn hormones.

It's kinda funny how people stereotype woman as less than interested in sex, yet we also have the "slut" archetype thrown around a lot.

Ah well.
Yeah, it is a bit interesting when you think about it. Especially in high school, the following is true:

If a guy has sex with many people, others think of him as cool.

If a girl has sex with many people, others think of her as a slut.

Quite a double standard really.

I wasn't popular enough to have a girlfriend almost all through high school, and the most part I only had 3 friends, all guys, so no action for me :p. Shyness, and lack of self confidence kinda screwed me over too for a while.

I started dating when I was 17, but we never had sex until...I think 2 years ago. But by that time we had built a well built relationship, which was I wanted more. Sex is nice, fun, but in my opinion, it's best when you have an emotional attachment. But others would/could say they are in it for the pleasure alone.

In any case, your not alone.

Sometimes.

But it's very rare that I feel like that.

Times like that I'm usually off daydreaming.

Indeed!

Although I am quite the hormonal mess these days, I've decided to wait for the one I love. It just means so much more.

Oh, and by waiting I don't mean marriage. That would be a mistake. ;D
Yeah. Marriage is a bit of an arbitrary measure I suppose.

I belief it's called being mature. Welcome to the club. It's depressingly small.

It is a sad day that the standards of maturity have been lowered far enough for me to be considered so.

No I have not. What is it?
"If a key opens many locks, it is a master key, but if a lock is opened by many keys, it's simply a shitty lock."
