Yeah so they're signing on a few names for A SOTC movie. I'l be honest I dont think it needs one. BUT Hollywood being Hollywood it will probably go ahead. One thing i think though is that it shouldnt be live action because i dont think CG colossi could look right IMO. What i would love to see, and this is just hopeful thinking, is that Genndy Tartakovsky could animate a mini series maybe? He's absolutely nailed this kind of thing before with quiet, desolate landscapes and distinctive character design. And if you look at Samurai jack and squint a bit you would see that he has done colossi too and they are very similar to team ico's designs. That's my idea, what do you guys think?

They should bring on Michael Bay because that's what SOTC was missing - Baysplosions. Every time he offs a colossus they could explode in such a way as to put nukes to shame. And he could reinterpret the story and put his own spin on it. Like, the colossi are actually hardcore Nazis and the protagonist is an American soldier, sent to save the rest of Europe from the horrors of giant Nazi super soldiers because Europe proved its incompetence by not being able to shoot the giant, glowing weak points. The final colossus could be Hitler MK2, with laser eyes and a Jew Beam that turns people into Jews.

And then right at the end of the film, there'll be a Shyamalan twist. The girl the protagonist is trying to save wakes up and turns out to be Eva Braun.

Well, you won the thread, no point in further postings.

It shouldn't be made by anyone just cause I couldn't stand to see it ruined :c

Shut up... Just... Shut up! Don't give Hollywood any ideas!!!! If Michael Bay directs a SotC movie, I'm putting all the blame on you!

IMO, I'm with you, OP. I don't think they should make a Shadow of the Colossus movie. Though, if they are gonna make one, I think Guilmerro Del Torro might do a decent job.

An animated film would be awesome, but I wont kid myself, they wont do that, even if the planet Earth's survival counted on making an animated adaption.
So heres another idea, why dont they hire someone so bad that the finished hunk of garbage would at least be considered 'so bad its good'. I mean no matter what they try the finished product will usually range from 'average' to 'nightmarishly bad'.

Even though I don't have a choice of my own and know you are likely joking (but if you aren't wow you are sad) it bears saying. Michael Bay: FFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKK OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As far as I had heard via around the world, the director of Chronicle was going to be given the keys to a Colossus Movie [http://www.slashfilm.com/chronicle-director-josh-trank-developing-shadow-colossus-video-game-adaptation/].

Asking me personally who I'd want to be director, I'd say nobody, but if that's not an answer, I'll go with a dead director who understood metaphors and just say Ingmar Bergman. had he got involved with video game movies, he probably would have been the best man for a job of that caliber.

I wouldn't stand to see the most beautiful game ever made be ruined by Hollywood. Though, an Anime Movie-type thing version would be acceptable. Maybe.

Nicolas Winding Refn (director of Drive)

He can make a whole movie with very little dialoge, and still have it be engaging as hell. This is ofcourse ignoring the fact that a Shadow of the Colossus movie is a bad fucking idea. They'd be better off trying to make an Ico movie.

...nobody?
Video game movies are already bad, why try to take a game that wouldn't even work as a movie and make it one?

Tarsem Singh [http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0802248/] could pull it off, I think. Regardless of what you think of The Cell and The Fall as narratives, the visuals are Fuckin' A

Interesting ideas. Yeah if its going to be bad might as well go so bad the world just implodes. Maybe Boll directs Bay's screenplay maybe? XD Seriously though one of you guys made a good point that it wouldnt work as a movie. And that is literally the crux of the problem that Hollywood continues to fail to register. That if you take the interactivity away from a game you have lost the story and the purpose. SOTC was an epic adventure/puzzler/dueling kind of game. For one it was set in a desolate landscape thats hard to expand on in a movie aside from being set in maybe New Zealand or something? And you felt some of the struggle Wander felt by playing as him and working with his not bad but different controls. He was made to stumble and struggle with sharp turns and shockwaves and how can you really translate that Feeling(not the image) to film? We are probably stuck with this movie or it may end up stuck in development hell.(Here's praying.) Del Toro now you mention is great with making fantasy stuff just seem awesome through CG and practical effects. (Wander even ends up very like Hellboy :D) Id put him on effects like that, but not sure if he could pull off the feeling of isolation though. SOTC is a touchstone of gaming, god help us if hollywood ruins it in the end.

I'm throwing my side in with the idea that nobody should make it.
Hollywood doesn't do well with video game movies that have a clear story line.
They're even worse with video game movies that don't have much of a story,
or one that they actually have to play the game to understand.

Nobody I don't trust nobody to do it No MB As much I liked the Transformer movies don't let him get anywhere near this with his Baysplosions.

(Whitney Houston voice may she continue to R.I.P) Hell to the Naw to Uwe Boll because he sabotages game franchises like that 1 person you personally hate, and didn't invite to your kick-ass party BUT shows anyway, gets wasted and does things to your house that could be considered inhuman.

F'ing no to whoever "smart" idea to make the Dragonball movie make this if. if you see them personally kill them, you will save a lot angry fans ready to off themselves.

Del Toro maybe is he too busy working on other stuff to be bothered to make this movie? like INsane? oh wait, THQ stopped production on it due to THQ having serious budget problems. oh well but he better be delicate with it but still no.
