There is! As of this posting, the project now has $161,000 (and counting) pledged to it. That means that the game itself will be successfully funded, and the first two stretch goals have also already been reached.

So they've made one successful game and expansion yet they can't fund a game that's going to cost 100K? People are gullible as fuck these day but mind you, it's an uncommon sight on Kicktstarter.

For me Dragonfall was an excellent blend of character, plot and setting and was well worth the money. If they're making something that good again then it will be worth every penny of the money I just pledged to this.

Actually they were already developing the game to begin with and the Kickstarter is more for giving it expanded features such as enhanced player controls, better presentation, and additional party members.

Speaking of which, they just hit the stretch goal to add Racter, a Rigger with a custom-made walker-form drone. So far, two tracks he can go down is to focus his drone on either visceral melee (adding bladed feet or buzz saws) or long-range (with auto-shotguns and grenade launchers)

It helps to read the actual page. The game is already funded, it will be released mid-year. The Kickstarter is to add additional features and content they couldn't do with their budget (which did come from sales of the previous games). Three of the five 'co-developer' goals have already been met.

Okay, let's run with your argument. Are you telling me that it costs 100k~ to add enhanced controls and a undefined number of sprites? Are you telling that it these enchantments cost more than a extra character? Or a slideshow with all the goodies?

Quite frankly, I don't buy into this shit.

Then don't fund it. I'm not a game developer, but I do know that time is money. How much time? No idea, but Harebrained Studios has earned my trust based on their previous games, so I did fund it. Why are you so angry about it?

Edit: And I funded it at a level I thought I would pay for it retail upon release, sight unseen, based on the previous game.

because getting a copy of a game at 15 bucks is so expensive, right m8?

I liked the initial game and have only started the expansion, but it's great so far, better than most of the other crap I already see out, so why is it "gullible as fuck" to kickstart this game as well?

have you remotely run any sort of project before? project overhead costs can be quite insane after you consider labor/equipment/insurance/time necessary to complete things. yeah each of these individual features isn't worth the 50 grand or so inbetween stretch goals, but thats just giving a generalized guarantee of what you will get for sure if you reach that amount.

It would be mostly for labor costs; after all, people need to paid, office space and expenses need to be rented, etc. Plus it could even help with new hires, allowing them to still get the game done on time despite added features. Heck, they're closing in on the fourth stretch goal now.

fantastic!

i was begining to think the idea of crowdfunding games had been co-opted by scam artists and terrible devs

New stretch goals announced, including ones for a new companion (ex-Red Samurai turned vampire Gaichu), expanded Cyberware system (including adding cyberweapons into the arm slots), expanded magic, and a revamped Matrix

Less than 24 hours in an already the Kickstarter is at over three times what they were asking, good for them. It's going to be exciting to see how well the Kickstarter does knowing that this is a dev that's already proven they're capable of delivering on what they promised.

Hell yeah, I liked Dead Man's Switch and loved Dragonfall. Doubt I'll back it but I will buy it eventually, hope more of these stretch goals are reached.

Would have thought The Escapist would have a news post on this by now.

I wonder what it must feel like when people show this much trust in you. Yes, HBS has proven that they can deliver, but still, less than 24h, and they already have this much dosh? Must feel pretty good and/or humbling, I reckon.

Chainsaw arms... So close. Yet so far.

And why are they adding Revamping the Matrix as a strech goal? They should have done it regardless, the Matrix was fucking boring in base game and in Dragonfall.

Probably because they want to make sure they have the resources and time to make it a worthwhile re-vamp. If they want it to be something significantly different from "meat space" they probably need a whole new set of systems, rules etc. for it. Instead of the "exactly like normal combat but with tron-lines"-look and feel that cyberspace was in the first two. It is a big change.

Gaichu stretch goal reached, now we get a samurai ghoul. His tracks are either for buffing his armor and sword attacks (making it so he counts like he's in cover despite standing in the open) or for embracing his ghoul side and infecting enemies with debuffs while restoring his own health. Good times

Next up: more cyber. Hopefully there will be chainsaw arms

I'm liking that there's more variety among the party members this time. Dragonfall was a tad boring on that front, having a mostly human party.
