I haven't played nearly enough Shadowrun. It's a supremely badass setting.

For the uninitiated, Shadowrun is a cyberpunk fantasy setting in which technology and magic coexist. Powerful Mega-corporations rule the land, fantasy races have returned to the world, and elite criminals called Shadowrunners undertake otherwise impossible jobs for their employers.

Would any of you be interested in joining before I put up a signup thread?

Yes...yes..yesyesyesyes! I have been dying to get a good Shadowrun game in! I was bummed I missed out on the last Shadowrun game since I couldn't get a decent bio out. But I've been able to piece one together in the time since and would so get a sheet up!

I would love to see it. Unfortunately, it seems the rest of the Escapist doesn't currently share our love for cutting dudes in half with Dikote Katanas.

I'd be very interested, and I think that a proper set-up thread would likely attract more players.

That said, I am curious. Simply a text-based game set in the Shadowrun world, or using a less in-depth version of the Shadowrun rules? And do you have any specific plot in mind?

I've ran multiple Shadowrun games on this board, and was a player in hiei82's game. With the release of Shadowrun Returns, I assumed that the setting was familiar at this point, but I can post a more in depth intro if necessary.

Text-based. Depending on the players, I could redo a previous game that fizzled out before the mission actually started, or go with a new run. In either case, the game would be basic Shadowrun: hired by Mr. Johnson to accomplish some difficult task, see if the players can do it, and return to get betrayed receive their Nuyen.

Yes, I remember your games, and Hiei's. Rather regret not having applied, but I didn't know anything about Shadowrun at the time and wasn't sure if I'd be interested.

I do think a more in-depth intro would be a good idea. If nothing else, to make sure everyone is on the same page- for example, Shadowrun Returns and Dragonfall are both set in the '50s, during the Second Matrix, and while Dunkelzahn was still alive. So someone who has only played those would have no idea about any of the plot that's occurred over the past 20 in-game years- Technomancers, for example. Also, however, I do think it would also attract some people who maybe haven't played Return or Dragonfall but are nonetheless interested in Shadowrun. I know of a couple people who've expressed interest in a game before without having played either of those games.
