Valve is too busy trying to make papercraft buildings out of their piles of cash to be bitter about small things like DRM-less games

Damn, I was hoping for a true cyberpunk Experience on the 360.

Sigh, I'm feeling more and more neglected these days.

Another old-school CRPG created by the original creators? Yes please. Very much looking forward to it. The Kickstarter seems to be going pretty well too, with over a quarter of what they asked funded so far.

Also, anyone else hoping Lord British starts a kickstarter to make a proper Ultima game? Probably won't work since I think the name is still owned by EA, but a man can dream....

and it's also worth noting that he was not at all involved in the 2007 Shadowrun [http://www.amazon.com/Shadowrun-Xbox-360/dp/B000OLSJLC/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1333555827&sr=8-4] FPS debacle.
I actually thought that FPS game was really fun. Apparently it had nothing to do with the rest of the series (I wouldn't know). It didn't have enough content, and the price was INSANE. But the game itself was unique, varied, and yes, fun.

Man, with all these old school designers crawling out of the woodwork (all 3 projects worth of them!) I waiting for an announcement that Greg Costikyan is involved in a Kickstarter project.

Hrmmm...I don't usually put money into things like this but I REALLY loved shadowrun (as in I actually read all the novels). Plus, if I get to kill elves, this might be worthwhile - especially if I am a troll with dermal plating...

The FPS was mostly destroyed by compromises, likely stipulated by Microsoft. For instance the platform crossplay between PC and XBOX, which did not work at all. And the utter lack of story. The idea itself could've worked, it just needed better design focus and more time for polish.

haha when they stoned the FPS shadowrun producer....so funny....
We all knew that was going to happen.

I actually tried the FPS game, and it was fun for a little while. But overall very lackluster.

When I saw this article I was like "Omg, omg, omg, omg!" then I stopped for a moment, realising that they wouldn't be able to remake the FPS from Kickstarter... I'm likely one of a tiny amount of people disapointed it's the RPG and not the FPS they're talking about.

My friends and I played a D20 Modern campaign set in a dystopian cyberpunk future with high fantasy elements by cobbling together the Cyberrave and Urban Arcana settings. Then we found out about Shadowrun and felt stupid when we realized how much work we could have saved ourselves.

OK I'm in, I loved the pen and pager paper game. Does this mean a Paranoia CRPG is just around the corner?

OK now I'm intrigued at the concept of a pen and pager game.

My would steam implement a non DRM game? Valve are not going to overturn their entire digital distribution system for the sake of one kickstarter game. They have no reason to spend money on implementing a non drm game. They just haven't thought it through.

I don't think this has to do with this being available on Steam. The problem I foresee is that this will be available on Steam but if I donate now I won't get it on Steam, ergo I should just wait to see if it comes out and buy it on Steam defeating the entire purpose of a Kickstarter program. I would love a Shadowrun game like the one that is being presented, however, I also like having all my PC games in one area which for me and a lot of people is Steam.

So maybe if Mr. Weisman would wisen up and let us choose how we get our free copy I'd be more inclined to use my disposable income to help fund his pet projects.

Tim Shafer, what have you wrought upon the Internet masses...?

No offense to these guys, but I'm assuming that all Kickstarter-related projects started in the next few months will be video game related in some way, shape, or form now.

If they are doing things like Wasteland 2 is you can get a DRM copy or a steam key, I'm not sure why you would want the steam version but if you do it probably will be an option. Why don't you just ask the devs rather than making illogical assumptions?
