I bought a new laptop a few days ago, an Asus G53S, and while installing some of my older games ran into a major graphical issue.
Here are some pictures from The Punisher pc game that show the problem;

The pool of light here

I have the same problem with Dawn of War and its expansions, especially in the opening cutscene and with the units in army painter. And now it's gotten to the point where I can't play a game without seeing what may or may not be that glitch. Does that patch of darkness between Fisher's shoulderblades in Conviction when he's running through an area not directly exposed to light, or that suspiciously dark bruise on Galliard's cheek as I interrogate him mean that the game's slowly being corrupted?

I had an issue like this on my old laptop, but that wasn't nearly as bad and probably only came about due to overheating, but this model is specially built not to overheat. This problem is driving me nuts since I'm more than a little obsessive over little glitches and bugs.
Does anyone know what the problem might be? I would really appreciate any help.

I'd recommend checking your drivers before trying anything else.

Whenever I run into that issue it seems to have something to do with the colour quality.

I tend to have it set to 32-bit, which usually prevents the issue from arising.

However, note that some older games don't take kindly to all resolutions or newer cards, which might also cause that issue (I'm having it on Deus Ex, and I've just had to learn to cope).
The Punisher game isn't exactly new, is it?

How do I set the game to run in 32 bit?

Well, it was released in 2005, if I'm not mistaken, so it isn't exactly ancient. DoW was out a little earlier though, so that might be causing it. I actually had a similar issue, though on a much lower scale, on my old laptop. That was due to overheating though, after a couple of weeks of playing the game, which isn't the issue here.

Just checked, the laptop is already set to run at the native resolution, true colour 32 bit.
