Looks pretty sweet. It's not a huge departure from the norm, but it's enough to stand out.

Everyone knows that games must be by default played from the perspective of a mid 30s, brown haired, sarcastic soldier.

hmm true then there's always lights being given off by lanterns

I know! Even I got one and I don't usually get things that the majority has.

This seems interesting, I will make sure to keep an eye out for this to see if it's worth picking up.

Innovation for the sake of innovation isn't fun.

It's different, it's good they're trying something different, but I personally don't think it will be fun.

you are not playing via perspective. You ARE the shadow. And the shadow logic plays into it. The sun's position can make things easier, or impossible, and certain objects move far differently then you would normally think (A flagpole becomes a wall, while a wall becomes a walk way, etc)

I'll give this a go but I can't see it being in the same league as Ico (despite the styling). The HUD's existence is going break the immersion but it's the kidsey design that's going to undermine any attempt to re-create Ico's atmosphere.
