I would have to say the Scott Pilgrim series. I recently read the books, and they are even better than the movie (which was fuckawesome). I know a LOT of people read these, but it really deserves more mainstream recognition

Being a niche-market within a niche-market, good grand strategy is hard to come by, and is rarely appreciated by more that hardcore fans.
