Hmm, I'm not sure what you mean by intense and powerful, since all songs have potential to be rather powerful, if they are associated with any number of events or circumstances, and intense is a vague term that means nothing without another adjective.

So I'm just gonna throw this here and laugh at the people laughing at me for misunderstanding your request.
Thanks lol, just figured that out :p

Oh, there is also the Metallica version of the song:
And I think this is also appropriate:
I'm using these in the soundtrack of a future movie... Also, it's funny how the escapist has pretty good taste in music for a gaming community.

You can't go wrong with the classics :

Pink Floyd : Atom Heart Mother

The Most epic and intense musical experience to me...

John Lennon : Mother

John Lennon using the Primal Scream technique in music to express the loss of his mother who died while he was a teenager and his father who left when he was a toddler and only contacted him when he became a Fab...

And last but not least, The Hammer of the Gods, Led Zeppelin. Many qualify for the title, Stairway to Heaven, Dazed & Confused, No Quarter... But my favorite has to be When The Levee Breaks

Needs headphones at maximum volume.

Hmm, well, for emotionally powerful, "Time" from the Inception OST always gets me:

Also this Dream Theater song:

But if you're looking for heavy, these spring to mind:

That song almost brings tears to my eyes, it's so epic. I know "epic" is overused, but to me this song is epic in the truest sense of the word.

If you say there is something more powerful then this.
Then you're lying you just don't know it yet.

This piece will rip the tears from you, the violin is agonizing.

Maria Callas need I say more.

I'd literally sell my soul to play this piece of music.

Metal and trance together, off of one of the most hardcore albums ever made.

IDM, similar to Aphex Twin, but with a broad, sweeping and truly epic song structure. If you can make it all the way through, you'll be treated to a powerful and intense experience.

If shoegaze is your thing, enjoy being smacked over the head with a simple and sluggish, yet powerful and effective rock song.

All I got for now.

I'm going to assume you meant emotionally intense, in which case...

Well I've always found this song quite 'powerful'.
<youtube=Fc56moy0poA>

Same with several Rise Against songs.

Oh, and this song with that commerical... well...
<youtube=6o_2TeVk1tc>
It made me tear up. Which is quite the rare thing.
